The Erie County Sheriff’s Office responded to 388 calls the week of this report.
10/12/24: Suspicious Person Transit Road Deputies checked on a reportedly suspicious male, wearing no shoes and sitting on a chair in front of a Transit Road restaurant. The male stated he was homeless and just using his phone. Deputies asked the male to return the chair to the restaurant and advised him of the complaint.
10/12/24: Neighborhood Patrols Town of Clarence Deputies continue their increased and targeted Patrols to deter larcenies from vehicles. The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind people to lock their vehicles and to not leave valuables in their vehicles when unattended.
10/13/24: Break in Attempt Main Street Deputies were called to a Main Street business for an apparent break in attempt. Deputies noted that entry was not made to the building, but pry marks were discovered on the back door. Deputies completed a police report and the Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit was called out to process the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
10/13/14: Suspicious Vehicle Main Street Deputies checked the area of Main and Goodrich after a report of a black SUV driving around following the complainant. The vehicle left before Deputies arrived and the complainant was unable to get a license plate. Deputies advised the complainant to call back if they saw the vehicle again.
10/15/24: Injury Accident Main Street Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident on Main Street. Deputies reported injuries to one driver, who was evaluated by EMS. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and Deputies completed an accident report.
10/15/24: Welfare Check Transit Road Deputies responded to a Transit Road business to check on a person slumped over the wheel of their vehicle in the parking lot. The caller stated the person had not moved in 5 minutes and she was afraid to knock on the window. When Deputies arrived, the vehicle was gone. There were no other complaints regarding the vehicle.
10/16/24: Suspicious vehicle with person The Maples Deputies were asked to check on a vehicle driving around the neighborhood. The caller stated the vehicle keeps on stopping and appears to be casing houses. Deputies located the vehicle, and found that the driver was delivering newspapers.
10/16/24: Accident Property damage Transit Road Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident on Transit Road. Deputies reported no injuries and both vehicles suffered only minor damage. Deputies assisted with an information exchange form.
10/17/24: Fraud Sawmill Road Deputies took a report from a complainant who stated their computer was accessed remotely and their credit card accounts were compromised. The accounts were closed, and the financial institutions are investigating the incident. Deputies advised the complainant to monitor the rest of their accounts and to have their computer checked. The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind people to be very cautious when providing their personal information online.
10/17/24: Welfare Check Transit Road Deputies were called to a Transit Road business on a report of a female slumped over in a vehicle. Deputies spoke to the female who stated she wasn’t feeling right. Deputies had EMS respond to evaluate the female. The female stated she was feeling better and signed off on transport. Deputies reported nothing suspicious.
10/18/24: Wire Down Clarence Center Road Deputies checked on a report of a low hanging wire on Clarence Center Road. Deputies identified the company responsible, who was contacted to address the wire. Deputies also reported it did not appear to be a hazard to traffic at the time.
10/18/24: Suspicious Incident County Road Deputies responded to check on a door to a
residence, that appeared open. The caller stated that the door was unlocked and believed that he locked it earlier. Deputies thoroughly checked the inside of the home, and everything appeared in order.
