Williamsville man arrested for Reckless Endangerment and multiple other charges following a pursuit.

On June 5, 2019, at approximately 1:06 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on I-90 in the town of Sheridan for a vehicle and traffic violation.  The driver provided troopers with a NY State license identifying himself as Joseph W. Nelson, 26, of Williamsville, NY.  During the traffic stop it was discovered that Nelson was driving with a suspended license and had multiple warrants out of the Town of Amherst Police Department.  When troopers requested Nelson exit his vehicle, he sped off and a pursuit ensued for approximately 7 miles.  The chase was terminated when Nelson drove through a closed toll lane while exiting the Thruway at the Dunkirk exit and approached the village of Fredonia.     SP Dunkirk troopers obtained a warrant from the Town of Sheridan Court and located Nelson on June 14, 2019.  He was taken into custody and transported to SP Buffalo where he was charged with Reckless Endangerment 1stdegree; a Class D Felony, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor; Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rddegree; an Unclassified Misdemeanor, and Vehicle and Traffic Violations. Nelson was transported to the Chautauqua County holding center to await arraignment.  No bail information or return court date available.
