West Seneca Police Patrol Logs From June 6th Through June 12th.

**The following list is only a sample of all the complaints handled by patrols**



Sunday 6/6/21: Total Complaints = 66

- Patrols responded to 11 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrol answered 4 Alarm Ringing calls.

- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.

- Officers performed 3 Welfare Checks.

- An employee of Tim Hortons on Seneca St. reported unknown suspect(s) damaged both his vehicle’s side-views mirrors and scratched the vehicle in multiple spots, while he was at work.

- An anonymous caller reported cars were “drag racing” out of Wimbledon Plaza, and doing “burnouts.” When patrols arrived, the area was devoid of traffic.

- A Flohr Ave. resident called police, stating there was someone in a vehicle outside yelling at her roommate. The two apparently got into an argument over each other’s driving. The victim was advised to call us back if the subject returned. Police checked the subject’s address, but he wasn’t there.

- A caller reported there was an ATV driving down French Lea Rd., with a toddler as a passenger. Officers located the ATV behind Clinton St. Elementary, and advised the operator of town laws regarding ATV usage.

- Patrols were called to Mt. Hope Cemetery, for a report of a disturbance and loud music after dark. We located several individuals who were mourning at a gravesite. They were advised of the cemetery’s hours of operation, and sent on their way.


Monday 6/7/21: Total Complaints = 76

- Patrol responded to 14 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrols answered 2 Alarm Ringing calls.

- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.

- Officers performed 5 Welfare Checks.

- Patrols located a female sleeping inside her vehicle outside a Seneca St. business. She was tired and had stopped to rest. She summoned an Uber to take her home.

- Police responded to a hit-and-run accident at Mill Rd. and Hi View Ter., where the street sign was struck and damaged. Officers followed a trail of fluid up the street and located the striking vehicle, but the driver was nowhere to be found. He later came to WSPD headquarters and admitted to his involvement in the accident. He was cited for Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

- The manager of TOPS on Orchard Park Rd. reported unknown suspect(s) have been repeatedly dumping garbage near the Goodwill trailer.

- A suspicious male was reported to be stopping cars in Southgate Plaza, asking people for money. Police spoke with a witness, who stated the male had actually been asking for a ride to Mighty Taco, not money, and had since left in a gray vehicle.

- WSPD received a 911 call about a dog left in a hot car outside Market in the Square. The air conditioning was running, but we advised the driver of the dangers of leaving dogs unattended in vehicles.

- An employee of Rite Aid at Union and Center Rds. Reported his vehicle was struck while parked during his shift. A man working on replacing the store sign was able to provide a description of the striking vehicle. Officers subsequently located the vehicle and driver, who admitted he knew that he’d hit something, but left because his passengers were telling him to “Go, go, go!” He was cited for Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

- Patrols were called to a disturbance at Clinton St. Elementary, where a woman was reportedly screaming at children to take their masks off. She was advised she is no longer welcome on school property.

- A male suspect shoplifted a $150 Shark vacuum from Big Lots. The manager stated the same individual had stolen an identical vacuum from the store the previous weekend. Detectives are attempting to locate the suspect.

- Police responded to a 911 call of customer trouble at a Seneca St. auto shop. The owner stated a tow truck driver had threatened to tow away all of his vehicles. The subject was unhappy about a vehicle he purchased there, and had made non-specific comments, including that he might return and take a different vehicle off the lot. He was gone when we arrived.

- WSPD received a 911 call reporting a suspicious vehicle driving in circles in the parking lot of Aldi on Harlem Rd., after the store had closed. The male at the wheel is learning how to drive, and was practicing.

- A Dirkson Ave. resident called 911, reporting he heard a gunshot outside. After canvassing the area and speaking with multiple residents, the noise was determined to have been made by fireworks.

- Police received a report of a suspicious male lying in the grass near Catalyst Express on Seneca St. We gave the intoxicated male a ride to his home nearby.


Tuesday 6/8/21: Total Complaints = 75

- Patrol responded to 6 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrols answered 2 Alarm Ringing calls.

- Police responded to 5 Domestic Disturbances.

- Officers performed 6 Welfare Checks.

- Police were called to the Evans Bank at Southgate Plaza for a report of dogs left in a hot car. When we arrived, the owner was returning to the car, the windows were down and the dogs did not appear to be in any distress. The owner was advised.

- A man reported unknown person(s) stole his prescription, a blank check and his insurance ID card from his vehicle, while he left it at Dunn Tire for service.

- A 54-year-old Buffalo man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Indian Church Rd. An officer stopped a vehicle for not having a front license plate; its rear plate came back “surrendered” and the driver’s learner’s permit was suspended. He was issued citations for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree and Unregistered Motor Vehicle.

- Patrols assisted in evacuating guests from the Country Inn & Suites, following a fire alarm activation. Firefighters found high levels of carbon monoxide on the building. National Fuel also responded. The source was determined to be two hot water tanks, and the hazard was mitigated.

- An 11-year-old child called police, stating his neighbors were yelling at him because they thought he was taking pictures of their vehicles. The child was not supposed to be at the neighbors’ address, due to past problems with another juvenile who lives there. The child was returned to his guardian.


Wednesday 6/9/21: Total Complaints = 80

- Patrol responded to 11 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrols answered 2 Alarm Ringing calls.

- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.

- Officers performed 6 Welfare Checks.

- A suspicious vehicle, with two different license plates on it, was reported to be parked at Great Lakes Pizza. Police checked the lot and surrounding area, but the vehicle was not there.

- Patrols responded to a disturbance in a guest room at the Hampton Inn. The front desk clerk reported receiving a phone call in which female could be heard yelling at the male caller, who stated everything was fine. Officers made contact with both guests, who stated they were having a loud conversation and didn’t need police assistance.

- An Indian Church Rd. resident reported his home health care aide stole $40 from him.

- An Orchard Park Rd. resident reported she’d been scammed by a man she met on Plenty Of Fish. The suspect convinced the complainant to send him $2000, and also obtained her Social Security number and other identifying information.

- An unknown male suspect shoplifted several hundred dollars in toilet paper and other groceries from the Harlem Rd. TOPS. He fled in a U-Haul truck with a female driver. Surveillance video will be reviewed in an attempt to identify him.

- The owner of Ultima Taco reported criminal mischief, done by a customer. The man became angry during a dispute with employees over a refund, and flung open the door, causing the doorknob to hit the drywall and put a fist-sized hole in it.

- Cheektowaga Police requested our assistance with taking into custody a subject wanted for violating an order of protection. Together, we located the man at his residence. Cheektowaga officers took him into custody without incident.

- A Southwestern Blvd. resident reported she fell victim to a “gift card scam,” whereby a suspect claiming to be a PayPal representative defrauded her out of over $5800.

- Officers responded to an Indian Church Rd. address for an unwelcome guest. The complainant stated her mother was banging on the door, and refusing to leave. We were able to convince her to leave without further incident.

- Patrols responded to a disturbance outside a Seneca St. address, where a female was reportedly screaming at a male. The female was upset that her car had broken down, and was venting her frustration. The male was trying to fix the car.

- Police were called to AMVETS on Ridge Rd. for a report of a male customer inside the store, creating a disturbance. When we arrived, he was already departing. He expressed his displeasure with the store’s mask mandate to us, and left.

- A 911 caller reported there was a suspicious male with no shirt, who looked like he was trying to break into Sieck and Mast Funeral Home on Orchard Park Rd. He was not trying to break in, but he was highly intoxicated. His father came to pick him up.


Thursday 6/10/21: Total Complaints = 86

- Patrols responded to 10 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrol answered 1 Alarm Ringing call.

- Police responded to 2 Domestic Disturbances.

- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.

- A concerned resident reported a neighbor’s dog had been outside barking for hours, and that the dog is not usually left out at such a late hour. Patrols responded and learned the family was out of town; the dog sitter had accidentally left the animal outside.

- Officers located a suspicious vehicle behind Picasso’s. The occupant was trying to put out stickers advertising his rock band, but the stickers wouldn’t stick to anything. He was advised to move along and stay off private property.

- A 53-year-old Lackawanna man was arrested, following a traffic stop. An officer observed a vehicle on Center Rd. with an expired inspection sticker. The driver’s license was suspended. He was issued summonses for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree and Uninspected Motor Vehicle.

- Police responded to a neighbor dispute on Iris Ave. One tenant was yelling at the others, as they were attempting to move out. Everyone was advised to leave each other alone.

- A suspicious vehicle with Ohio plates was reported to have been parked on Seneca Creek Rd. with its windows rolled down, for several days. We were able to locate the owner, who was working on getting the car towed.

- Officers responded to Crosby’s/Marathon gas station, where a frantic mother was locked out of her vehicle, with her child locked inside. We were able to gain entry to the vehicle. The child was okay.

- An East & West Rd. resident reported a passing tractor-trailer caught and ripped down several utility lines to her house. Neither she nor any of the neighbors were able to provide a description of the semi.

- A Burch Ave. resident reported his downstairs neighbor had punched his 13-year-old daughter. The child miscommunicated to her parents what actually happened – she and another youth had an argument. No children were punched.

- Police responded to the Soccer Complex for a report of a male subject who was stopping the game, confronting parents and coaches from the opposing team. We spoke to everyone involved and advised them to take up their complaints with the league, rather than each other.

- WSPD received two 911 hang-up calls from an Indian Church Rd. address. The elderly resident was okay; she was just having difficulty working her phone.

- Police and firefighters responded to Wind Mill North Rd. for a report of smoke in the basement of a home. There was no fire, but a water-damaged fuse box was smoking. Power to the house was shut off. No one was hurt.


Friday 6/11/21: Total Complaints = 93

- Patrols responded to 7 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrol answered 1 Alarm Ringing call.

- Police responded to 2 Domestic Disturbances.

- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.

- Police responded to Dover Dr. for a neighbor dispute. The complainant reported her next-door neighbors are constantly having loud parties, and when she’s tried to talk to them about it, they insult her. She was advised to follow up with her landlord.

- WSPD received nearly simultaneous calls from TOPS and Wegmans on Orchard Park Rd., from which it was ascertained that the same group of subjects were attempting to shoplift from both stores. They were reportedly in a white U-Haul truck. Officers stopped the truck. The suspects didn’t get away with any product from either store, but the female driver’s license was suspended and she had four outstanding warrants – three with us and one with Orchard Park. She was charged with one count each of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd and 3rd Degree, booked on our warrants, and then turned over to the custody of Orchard Park Police. The two male passengers were released.

- Police and firefighters responded to a Highland Ave. residence, which was reportedly filling with smoke. The smoke was coming from a lawnmower exhaust. There was no fire or damage to the home.

- A Lexington Green resident reported she paid a contractor a $2000 deposit, but he never showed up to her home to do the work.

- A Hilltop Cts. resident reported she paid two individuals $1100 to build a wooden children’s playset, and the suspects never completed and delivered the set.

- Two men were arrested, following a traffic stop on Union Rd. An officer observed a U-Haul rental vehicle that was reported as overdue to return. The vehicle then changed lanes without signaling. The driver had no license and a warrant with us; the passenger had a warrant with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. Both men were taken into custody on their warrants, and the vehicle was returned to U-Haul.

- Officers responded to Southgate Plaza for a report of a belligerent male, asking shoppers for money and spitting at people. We found him outside Dollar Tree, drinking a beer. He was cited for violating the town’s “open container” code and sent on his way.

- Two female suspects stole four air conditioners, together valued at almost $700, from the Home Depot. Employees provided the license plate of their getaway car. Patrols attempted to locate the suspects/vehicle at the address to which the vehicle was registered, without success. Surveillance video will be used to identify the suspects.

- A small group of children were reported to be playing on the tent behind West Elementary School. We advised them to leave the tent alone.

- Police responded to a French Lea Rd. address for a neighbor dispute. The complainant stated her neighbor pointed his cane at her. Their disagreement was over loud music, and the subject did admit to pointing his walking stick at the complainant.

- A Willowdale Dr. resident called police, stating several youths had just knocked on his door and told him they were being chased. One of the youths apparently had another’s backpack, and the backpack owner was chasing him to get it back. We advised all the kids to go home for the night.


Saturday 6/12/21: Total Complaints = 90

- Patrols responded to 9 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Police responded to 4 Domestic Disturbances.

- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.

- The clerk at 7-Eleven on Seneca St. reported two female suspects stole a 12-pack of White Claw from the store. Officers located the discarded (empty) packaging a short distance down Southwood Dr. Surveillance video will be used to identify the suspects.

- A Main St. resident reported a suspicious white Jeep had pulled into her driveway, a person got out and began approaching her house. The person fled when the complainant turned her lights on. Patrols searched the area, but could not locate any vehicle matching the description.

- A Fisher Rd. resident reported a teenaged male and female had been walking along his property line. He last saw them doing cartwheels down the street. They were in the neighborhood for a bonfire, and mistakenly went to the wrong house.

- A Liberty Cab driver called 911 from a Union Rd. address, stating his fare was refusing to pay him. With our assistance, they were able to come to an agreement.

- An Electric Ave. resident reported her dog was bitten by her neighbor’s dog. Video showed the offending dog chasing the complainant’s dog, but there was no proof of a bite. Both owners were advised to keep their canines leashed.

- WSPD received multiple calls reporting several vehicles driving recklessly and doing “burnouts” on North America Dr., in the parking lot of the former Certo Brothers. Our patrols did not observe them operating recklessly, but they were congregating in the parking lot. We advised them to leave.
