Sunday 2/21/21: Total Complaints = 72
- Patrols responded to 9 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol responded to 1 Alarm Ringing call.
- Police responded to 2 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.
- Southgate Plaza security flagged down patrol to report a suspicious vehicle that had been in the parking lot for several days. Officers tracked down the owner, who is quarantining at a nearby home and parked the car at the plaza due to on-street parking restrictions.
- A Lexington Green resident reported a suspicious vehicle parked in her driveway. The car turned out to belong to her daughter-in-law, who was parking it there to keep it off the street.
- Police responded to the 7-Eleven on Southwestern Blvd. for a report of a vehicle that struck the building. Upon closer investigation, the vehicle had struck a planting box in front of the store, causing very minor damage, not the building itself.
- A woman reported her debit card was stolen from the locker room of LA Fitness.
- Four town residents separately reported unknown suspect(s) obtained their personal information, and filed for unemployment benefits using their names.
- Officers responded to a disturbance outside TNT Express Lube at Center and Union Rds. A mother had picked up her intoxicated son from a bar, and the son had become a little unruly because he wanted to stay out. They were sent on their way without further incident.
- A 38-year-old Buffalo man was arrested following an incident on Burch Ave. An officer, who knew from prior interactions that the subject’s driver’s license was suspended, spotted the man at the wheel of a running (but stationary) car. He refused to cooperate or provide officers with his identification, and eventually took his foot off the brake, causing the vehicle to begin rolling away. He had to be removed from the vehicle by officers. Several dozen packages of marijuana were found during a search of the car. The man was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, Unlicensed Operator, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 4th Degree.
- Police were called to Chamberlin Dr. for a report of four people outside yelling. When we arrived, no one was outside and the neighborhood was quiet.
- A woman called 911, stating she had just witnessed a possible burglary. She saw a man dressed in all black climb up onto the second-floor balcony of a Wimbledon Ct. apartment, and enter the apartment. Officers made contact with the male, who lives there and had accidentally locked himself out.
Monday 2/22/21: Total Complaints = 89
- Patrol responded to 9 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols responded to 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.
- An Edson St. resident called police, reporting her downstairs neighbor pulled into the driveway, got out, and was now screaming and causing a scene. There was apparently some confusion over parking spots, which patrol was able to help resolve.
- A Milton Ave. resident reported his Jeep was stolen from his driveway.
- Police responded to eleven accidents, disabled vehicles and vehicles off the road, due to snowy/slippery conditions.
- Delta Sonic’s head of security reported a female customer had shoplifted a steering wheel cover, snow brushes and gloves while having her car detailed. Surveillance video is being used to help identify her.
- Six town residents separately reported unknown suspect(s) obtained their personal information, and filed for unemployment benefits using their names.
- A Cam Ct. resident reported his pickup truck was stolen from his driveway sometime overnight.
- A Boncroft Dr. resident reported unknown suspect(s) entered and rummaged through her vehicle sometime overnight.
- A 41-year-old man was arrested, following a disturbance on Edson St. The man had been staying with the resident there for a few days, but the resident wanted the man out due to his increasingly erratic behavior. The man became enraged, kicked the front door, causing damage to the door and frame, and told the resident he was going to kill him. Officers attempted to speak with the subject and get him to calm down, but he refused. He also refused to comply when officers told him he was under arrest. One officer had to deploy his Taser in order to gain the subject’s compliance. He was charged with Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, and Harassment in the 2nd Degree.
Tuesday 2/23/21: Total Complaints = 75
- Patrol responded to 10 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols responded to 1 Alarm Ringing call.
- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.
- A 51-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for drunk driving, after police received a report of a vehicle on the front lawn of a Hi View Terrace address with its headlights on. The driver was passed out at the wheel. He failed field sobriety tests and registered a .137% BAC on a preliminary breath test. He was charged with DWI, No Seat Belt and an “open container” violation.
- A 56-year-old Ohio man was arrested, after an incident at the Country Inn & Suites. A housekeeper cleaning one of the rooms there reported finding a handgun. It was a loaded and functioning Glock pistol. Police were able to track down the registered owner of the gun, who had an Ohio concealed carry permit but no New York State pistol permit. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, and released on an appearance ticket.
- Three town residents reported unknown suspect(s) obtained their personal information, and fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits in their names.
- An Indian Church Rd. resident reported she was the victim of a scam. She received a phone call telling her she had won the Publishers’ Clearing House sweepstakes, and was tricked into giving the scammers her bank account information. The scammers then removed $153 from her account.
- Patrols responded to a disturbance at Applebee’s. A former employee showed up demanding his final paycheck, and became irate when he was informed the check was not available yet. He began yelling at current employees and allegedly pulled out a switchblade knife. He left prior our police arrival. None of the employees on site wanted to pursue the matter.
Wednesday 2/24/21: Total Complaints = 88
- Patrol responded to 9 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols responded to 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 7 Welfare Checks.
- A 21-year-old Lackawanna man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Ridge Rd. An officer observed the man’s vehicle was missing its front license plate. His driver’s license was found to be suspended. He was released on traffic tickets for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree and a license plate display violation.
- A 42-year-old Buffalo man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Seneca St. Officers observed the man make a turn without signaling. He showed signs of impairment and was extremely anxious and talkative while speaking with patrol. He failed field sobriety tests, but tested negative for alcohol. Officers found pills, glass smoking pipes with residue and marijuana inside the vehicle. The man was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in the 2nd Degree, and several traffic infractions, and released on an appearance ticket.
- The property manager of Ebenezer Square on Seneca St. reported one of the neighborhood teenagers punched and kicked several panels out of the property’s fence, causing approximately $300 in damage.
- A suspicious male was reported to be staggering along Burch Ave., falling over. Officers located the intoxicated man at his residence. He declined any assistance.
- A Postal Service letter carrier reported finding a knife at the curb of Harlem Rd. It was an old kitchen knife. Police disposed of it.
- Police received a report of a male on roller blades on Seneca Creek Rd., who was lost and didn’t know how to get home. Officers transported the 13-year-old back to his house in Buffalo.
- An officer pulled over a motorist on Potter Rd. During the traffic stop, the car’s battery died. The officer gave it a jump and got the motorist back on his way.
Thursday 2/25/21: Total Complaints = 83
- Patrols responded to 13 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol responded to 2 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 6 Welfare Checks.
- A Weigand St. resident reported his Ring doorbell camera captured footage of a male unsuccessfully trying door handles of cars in the neighborhood. The video was collected as evidence.
- A French Lea Rd. resident reported unknown suspect(s) stole her vehicle from her driveway overnight. The car was unlocked and contained her purse and the car keys.
- Police received a 911 hang-up call from Upstate Pharmacy on North America Dr. It was accidental – employees have to dial “9” to reach outside lines.
- The owner of a Union Rd. business reported current employees are receiving ongoing, harassing phone calls from a former employee, who has already been warned to stop.
- Patrols responded to Goodyear Tire on Orchard Park Rd., for a report of a male outside soliciting customers for money. The man was cooperative and left the property when asked to do so by patrol.
- Officers responded to a neighbor dispute on Chamberlin Dr. The complainant was upset because the neighbor’s four-year-old child ripped down yellow caution tape that was hanging in the backyard. The subject agreed to keep closer watch over her child.
- Police and firefighters responded to a report of a chimney fire on Delray Ave. There was no fire; it was merely the reflection of the sun.
- A North Ave. resident reported unknown suspect(s) entered his vehicle, and stole several rent checks.
Friday 2/26/21: Total Complaints = 98
- Patrols responded to 13 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol responded to 2 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 5 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 6 Welfare Checks.
- Contractors at a Clinton St. construction site reported unknown suspect(s) damaged a basket lift on the site.
- A Blasdell man reported he may have been followed home from his workplace in West Seneca by a maroon pickup truck.
- Police and firefighters responded to an injury accident on Harlem Rd. One vehicle was backing out of a driveway, and struck a passing car that was traveling north on Harlem. The driver was issued a ticket for unsafe backing. The driver of the vehicle that was struck was evaluated at the scene, and signed off with first aid.
- The assistant manager of Big Lots reported a male and female suspect stole two vacuum cleaners, and an air fryer. Video surveillance will be used to identify them.
- A Tindle Ave. resident reported his juvenile daughter was being harassed and bullied by three boys on the school bus.
- An East & West Rd. resident reported a decorative wreath was stolen off of his front door. He suspected a neighbor, with whom he’s had an ongoing dispute, was responsible. The neighbor is moving, and the complainant didn’t wish to pursue the matter.
- Patrols were called to the Country Inn & Suites for a large party in the lobby area, with the subjects refusing to leave the premises. The group dispersed when we arrived.
- Police received a report of three males and a female striking a parked car on Burch Ave. with a ladder. When officers arrived, no one was around, and there was no damage to any parked vehicles.
Saturday 2/27/21: Total Complaints = 69
- Patrols responded to 6 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol responded to 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.
- Police responded to Manhasset and Dorr Sts. for a disturbance. The woman on scene reported her boyfriend’s sister pulled up in a car, and wanted to fight her. The women scuffled briefly before the suspect got back into her vehicle and left.
- A former employee of West Seneca Auto reported that when he went to the business to retrieve some of his tools and other personal property, he discovered someone had stolen his impact wrench.
- Police and firefighters responded to Union and Indian Church Rds. for an injury accident. One vehicle made a right-hand turn on red, striking the other. The driver of the vehicle that was struck suffered a minor abrasion, and declined transport to the hospital. The driver of the striking vehicle was ticketed for Failure to Yield the Right-of-Way.
- A group of kids on bikes were reported to be riding in the road, causing problems and stopping traffic near the DMV office. Patrols advised them to stay out of the road, and sent them on their way.
- A 28-year-old Lancaster woman was arrested for shoplifting from TOPS on Harlem Rd. She left the store without paying for approximately $45 in merchandise, and was apprehended by loss prevention. She was released on an appearance ticket charging her with Petit Larceny.
- Police and firefighters responded to a report of an accident with injuries at Union and Seneca Creek Rds. One vehicle was stopped at the red light, when it was rear-ended by another. The driver of the striking vehicle was cited for Following Too Closely. Everyone in both cars was evaluated and declined further medical attention.
- Patrols responded to Hillview Terrace for a report of three males loitering around a vehicle in the area. Officers were unable to locate anyone.
