**The following list is only a sample of all the complaints handled by patrols**
Sunday 6/13/21: Total Complaints = 78
- Patrols responded to 12 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol answered 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.
- Police responded to an unknown type of disturbance at the Birchwood Square apartment complex. A resident of the complex stated he was “attacked” by his sister’s boyfriend, who then left. The victim stated he was not injured, and only wanted the incident documented.
- Two suspicious individuals in a dark-colored sedan were reported to be going through vehicles on Morris Crescent. One of the people was trying (unsuccessfully) to help a friend, who locked herself out of her car. They were waiting for AAA to arrive.
- WSPD received a call about people “tailgating” and drinking alcohol in the parking lot of the soccer complex, red Solo cups in hand. We advised them of the town code prohibiting alcohol in the parks, and they agreed to comply.
- A Harlem Rd. resident called police, stating his landlord was trying to evict him, and he felt that the landlord was harassing him. After hearing the whole story, officers explained that no laws were violated, but encouraged the complainant to call us if any harassment does occur.
- A Heritage Farm Rd. resident called WSPD, reporting that there was something wrong with someone inside a nearby house. The complainant stated he could hear noises coming from the house in question, and it sounded like someone was in distress. The noises turned out to be coming from a TV, but one of the people at the house had an active warrant with Cheektowaga Police. He was taken into custody, and turned over to Cheektowaga PD.
- A Heritage Farm Rd. resident reported unknown suspect(s) damaged her air conditioner, by puncturing several holes in it.
- Officers responded to an accident with injuries in the parking lot of TOPS on Orchard Park Rd. An elderly driver was trying to back out of a parking space when he accelerated and swung almost 360° through the parking lot, striking two sign posts, then put the car in drive and struck another sign post and a parked vehicle. He suffered a small abrasion on his hand but was otherwise not hurt.
- Patrols responded to a disturbance on Cove Hollow, where two neighbors were reportedly yelling at each other. They have an ongoing dispute over one neighbor coming onto the other’s property to trim hedges. They were advised to call us the next time there is a problem, rather than confronting each other.
- A caller reported there were cars “drag racing” on North America Dr. When officers arrived, they encountered several individuals in their vehicles, parked in a parking lot. They were advised not to race, and sent on their way.
- A Center Rd. resident called police, stating her neighbor yelled at her dog to “shut up,” because the animal was outside barking. We advised the subject to call us or Animal Control, rather than yell at his neighbor’s dog.
Monday 6/14/21: Total Complaints = 73
- Patrol responded to 8 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.
- Staff at Southgate Medical called WSPD, stating there was a male outside urinating in the parking lot. Patrols located the man and advised him he is no longer welcome on the property.
- Police received a call about a dog locked in a vehicle with all the windows rolled up, in the parking lot of PETCO. We spoke with the dog’s owner, advised him of the dangers of hot cars and to either leave his dog at home, or bring the dog with him into the store.
- Officers responded to a four-vehicle accident with injuries on Union Rd. at Seneca St. One vehicle rear-ended another car, which was stopped in traffic, causing a chain-reaction crash where the second car was pushed into the third and the third into the fourth. The driver of the striking vehicle was evaluated at the scene for chest pain; the driver of the car she struck was taken to the hospital with arm and neck pain.
- Police responded to a disturbance on Boynton Ave. A woman reported her teenaged son was outside weeding the garden, when a neighbor began yelling at him and recording a cell phone video of him. The woman stated this is an ongoing issue. The neighbor justified his actions by telling officers that “the whole neighborhood” is harassing him and spreading rumors about him.
- WSPD received several 911 calls about a vehicle with a blown-out tire driving up onto curbs on Indian Church and Harlem Rds. The female driver was experiencing a diabetic emergency. She was evaluated and treated by EMS on-scene.
- Police and EMS responded to a two-car injury accident on Lein Rd. After the vehicles collided, one went off the road and struck a fence, causing substantial damage. The drivers gave conflicting accounts of how the accident occurred. One was taken to the hospital with neck pain.
- An Evelyn Ave. resident reported someone entered Applebee’s, claiming to be her husband, and took her dinner order.
- A Fernwood Ave. resident reported someone fraudulently charged $975 in DoorDash and shoe purchases to her credit card. The victim suspected one of her home health care aides may have obtained her card number.
Tuesday 6/15/21: Total Complaints = 59
- Patrol responded to 4 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols answered 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 2 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 5 Welfare Checks.
- An Orchard Park Rd. resident called 911, stating a suspicious male had just knocked on her door and asked if there were children there who needed to be picked up. Patrols located him a short distance away. He was lost. We gave him directions to his destination.
- An Indian Church Rd. resident reported all of her personal information was compromised by unknown suspect(s), who were posing as hiring managers. The suspects purported to hire the victim to work for them remotely. They also scammed her out of $220 in gift cards.
- Officers responded to a hit-and-run accident in the parking lot of the WNY Children’s Psychiatric Center. Surveillance video showed a gray SUV striking and damaging a parked motorcycle. The following day, the driver came forward and admitted to accidentally striking the motorcycle. She was issued a citation for Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
- A 43-year-old Alden man was arrested, following an accident on Clinton St. at Transit Rd. He rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped at the red light. His driver’s license was suspended. He was issued citations for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree and Following Too Closely.
- Police and firefighters responded to a fire in a plastic trash receptacle at Tim Russert Park. It appeared to have been accidentally ignited by a carelessly discarded cigarette.
- A Vista Ct. resident reported his neighbor’s children were on his property, setting off fireworks. Police spoke with the mother, advised her to keep her children off the neighbor’s property, and not allow them to play with fireworks.
Wednesday 6/16/21: Total Complaints = 93
- Patrol responded to 12 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols answered 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 2 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 1 Welfare Check.
- A Neubauer Ct. resident reported two unknown suspects were trying (unsuccessfully) to get into the cars in her driveway. Our patrols scoured the neighborhood, but located no one on the streets. We subsequently received calls from residents of Campbell Ln. and Leocrest Ct. who reported their security cameras caught footage of two to three suspects trying to break into cars on those streets, as well.
- A Mill Rd. resident reported his neighbor’s children are constantly cutting through his property, despite him asking them not to and putting up a makeshift wall to block their path. Officers spoke with the children and their parent, and advised them to stay off the neighbor’s property.
- Police received an anonymous complaint about loud construction at Park Lane Villas North on Center Rd., starting at 5:00 AM every day. The workers were advised of the town noise ordinance hours.
- A Bernadette Ter. resident reported unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle and stole a $1200 laptop.
- An Edson St. resident reported her friend stole $5 and a marijuana pipe from her.
- A Heritage Farm Rd. resident reported an unknown suspect extorted $250 from him, by threatening to post sensitive photographs of him on the internet if he did not send the money.
- Home Depot management reported one of the store’s rental trucks stolen, after the renter failed to return it per the contract.
- A woman reported unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle and stole a brand-new set of license plates, while she was inside Paula’s Donuts.
- An officer was flagged down on Center Rd. by someone reporting a red sedan swerving all over the road. The officer subsequently located the vehicle; the driver stated he was reaching for something in the car, which caused him to swerve.
Thursday 6/17/21: Total Complaints = 90
- Patrols responded to 12 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol answered 1 Alarm Ringing call.
- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 6 Welfare Checks.
- A Reserve Rd. resident reported unknown suspect(s) egged her boyfriend’s car.
- Officers responded to a Burch Ave. address for a report of people blowing off “M-80” style fireworks. The fireworks users were issued a warning.
- A Clinton St. resident called police, reporting a contractor who’d done work on her house had showed up unannounced, argued with her about money he believes she owes him, and left a dumpster on her property. Despite our numerous attempts to reason with him, he refused to come back and remove the dumpster, leaving us no choice but to have it towed away.
- Police and EMS responded to a three-vehicle accident with injuries on Union Rd. near Consumer’s Beverages. One vehicle rear-ended another that was stopped in traffic, pushing the second vehicle into a third vehicle. A passenger in the second vehicle complained of head and neck pain and was taken to the hospital. The driver of the striking vehicle was issued a citation for Following Too Closely.
- Officers were called to East Middle School, where the umpire for a students’ softball game reported parents from the opposing team were yelling at and trying to intimidate her. She ended the game early, and all parties were dispersed without further incident.
- WSPD received a complaint about fireworks use on French Lea Rd. The fireworks were for a child’s birthday party. The subjects agreed to conclude their fireworks display for the evening.
Friday 6/18/21: Total Complaints = 82
- Patrols responded to 8 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol answered 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 3 Welfare Checks.
- Police were called to Birchwood Square Apartments for a report of a male outside yelling at a female and chasing her around a car. We made contact with the subjects, who refused police assistance and stated they were just having a loud conversation. We advised them to keep their voices down.
- Officers and firefighters responded to a Cindy Ln. address for a reported chimney fire. The homeowner reported there had been an excessive number of flies in her home, which she believed were possibly there because of a dead animal in the chimney, so she started a fire in the fireplace to drive the flies out. However, she forgot to open the flue and the house filled with smoke. The fire did not spread and there was no damage.
- Police were called to a disturbance on Iris Ave. The male complainant was yelling into the phone, but could not be understood, due to a language barrier. Eventually, officers determined he was upset because his neighbors across the street parked their vehicles on their front lawn, and he thought they were watching him. They were actually just moving, and parked the cars there to more easily load their belongings.
- Wegmans employees turned in a lost wallet they found inside the store. We returned it to its owner.
- A Union Rd. resident reported she is receiving harassing text messages from an unknown suspect claiming to be an FBI agent, and threatening that she will “be in trouble” if she does not contact him right away.
- An employee of the West Seneca Developmental Center reported unknown suspect(s) stole one license plate off of one of the facility’s vans.
- A man reported finding a friendly loose dog that jumped into his vehicle, while he was at Wendy’s on Ridge Rd. The gray and white pit bull was taken to Animal Control; if this is your dog you can call the shelter at 823-2988 to claim it.
- A Wildwood Pl. resident reported his neighbor’s tree fell into his yard, damaging his garage. Officers made contact with the neighbor on Burch Ave., who was already arranging to have an insurance adjuster come and look at the complainant’s garage.
Saturday 6/19/21: Total Complaints = 83
- Patrols responded to 8 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.
- Police responded to a single-vehicle accident on the 219 exit to Ridge Rd. The young driver lost control on the exit ramp, and struck a culvert. He was not hurt. AAA responded to tow the car.
- A Treehaven Rd. resident reported two unknown male suspect(s) unsuccessfully attempted to enter her vehicle, then fled eastbound on foot. Patrols searched the neighborhood, but located no one.
- A 42-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for drunk driving. An officer observed a vehicle driving on Union Rd. overnight with no lights on, and pulled the vehicle over. The driver smelled of alcohol and was visibly intoxicated. He also admitted that his license was revoked – for Driving While Intoxicated. He refused to give a breath sample or participate in field sobriety testing. He was charged with DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree, and Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.
- A Vista Ct. resident reported unknown suspect(s) fraudulently filed for a small business loan using her maiden name and Social Security number.
- A Colonial Manor Ct. resident reported his house had been egged the last several nights in a row.
- The same complainant from Reserve Rd. on Thursday reported her boyfriend’s car had been egged again.
- Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance in the parking lot of Wegmans. He stumbled and fell, but refused medical attention.
- An Aurora Ave. resident report unknown suspect(s) entered her vehicle overnight and stole her purse, containing her wallet, credit cards and $500 cash.
- A man reported his vehicle was struck while it was parked on Fremont Ave. A witness stated the striking vehicle was a newer-model Ford F-150.
- A man called 911, stating he was being “tortured” at a Harlem Rd. address. When officers arrived, everyone was intoxicated. Evidently, the complainant’s definition of “torture” was the other parties at the residence not leaving him alone. Everyone agreed to go to bed for the night.
