**The following list is only a sample of all the complaints handled by patrols**
Sunday 5/2/21: Total Complaints = 82
- Patrols responded to 12 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.
- A 28-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for drunk driving. An officer observed a vehicle run the red light at Harlem Rd. and Clinton St., then swerve repeatedly between lanes and over the double yellow line on Harlem. The driver initially said he hadn’t been drinking, but then nearly lost his balance as he was getting out of his car. He failed field sobriety tests and registered a .190% BAC on a preliminary breath test. He was charged with DWI, Aggravated DWI, and several traffic infractions.
- A suspicious vehicle was reported to be driving up and down Ashley Dr. The only vehicle on the street was that of the newspaper delivery person.
- A Hyland Ave. resident reported unknown suspect(s) vandalized her house. She stated she was awakened by the sound of items hitting her house, went to investigate, and observed two males standing at the end of her driveway. They ran away when she yelled at them. Eggs and paint had been thrown on the house’s siding and garage doors, and a small fire had be ignited on the front lawn (which officers put out with a fire extinguisher). Patrols collected numerous evidence items left behind by the suspects.
- A Westcliff Dr. resident reported someone stole her patio umbrella. The umbrella was located on the other side of the fence, where it had been blown by the wind.
- A Cheektowaga man reported that his vehicle was broken into, and a 32” television and Milwaukee drill were stolen from it, while it was parked at a friend’s house on Schultz Rd. overnight. The complainant suspect his friend of smashing his car window and stealing the items, because the friend previously made comments about being able to trade the TV for crack. The friend later admitted to it, returned the items and agreed to pay for the damage to the vehicle. The complainant chose not to pursue charges.
- Police responded to a neighbor dispute on Mineral Springs Rd. facility. The complainant stated her neighbors pulled up her lawn signs and threw them in her yard, because they have an ongoing dispute over the property line. They were all advised to follow up with the building inspector.
- Officers were called to a Blair Ln. address for a disturbance, where a male and female could reportedly be heard screaming inside the house. The occupants stated no yelling or arguing took place; they were just getting ready for dinner.
- Staff at Planet Fitness reported two gym members had just gotten into a scuffle, and the aggressor was still in the gym causing a ruckus with other customers, because he was refusing to wear a mask. Both of the combatants were gone when patrols arrived.
- Patrols responded to a landlord/tenant dispute on French Lea Rd. The intoxicated tenant was reportedly attempting to get his landlord to come outside and fight him, for no reason. Officers spoke with the subject, and advised him to remain inside for the night.
- A 33-year-old Elma woman was arrested, following a traffic stop on Seneca St. An officer observed a vehicle with an expired registration sticker on it. The registration was found to be suspended. The driver was issued summons for Uninspected Motor Vehicle and Operating While Registration Suspended.
- WSPD received a report of a tanker truck leaking its contents on Transit Rd. No hazardous materials were released; the truck was carrying dairy product, some of which spilled from a loose connection point.
- A suspicious male and female were reported to be walking around the lot of Glaub’s Collision, possibly trying to steal auto parts. They were trying to get into their vehicle, which had been towed there after an accident, to retrieve some personal items. They were advised to return during normal business hours.
Monday 5/3/21: Total Complaints = 67
- Patrol responded to 8 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols responded to 2 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 2 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 2 Welfare Checks.
- A Fields Ave. resident called police, stating an unknown vehicle had just driven over her lawn and struck her garbage cans, damaging both the lawn and the cans, and left the scene.
- A suspicious red pickup truck on Thorndale Ave. took off and refused to stop for patrols, fleeing westbound into the City of Buffalo. There were no signs of criminal mischief or theft in the area where the truck had been sitting.
- A 22-year-old West Seneca man was arrested for drunk driving. An officer observed a truck on Seneca St. with a loud exhaust and no working taillights. The driver smelled of alcohol, failed field sobriety tests and registered a .146% BAC on a preliminary breath test. He was charged with DWI and equipment violations, and released to his father.
- A Tindle Ave. resident reported unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked vehicle overnight, stealing cash, winning lotto tickets, several credit and debit cards, keys to his workplace, and both of his license plates.
- The owner of B&G Automotive reported a customer’s vehicle had been stolen off the business’ lot. The next day, the owner called WSPD to report he had recovered the vehicle on his own “in the city” and no longer required police assistance.
- An Oschawa Ave. resident called police, stating there was a skunk in her backyard giving birth under her hedges. The skunk was not birthing a litter; it had consumed a large amount of dryer lint and was attempting to eliminate said lint from its bowels.
- A suspicious vehicle was reported to have been parked alongside the store at Crosby’s, unoccupied, for several hours. Police located the owner fishing in the creek. He moved his car.
- Three kids were reported to be jumping into traffic on Mill Rd. Patrols were unable to locate any youths in the area.
- Police responded to a report of a suspicious male entering a vacant house on Slade Ave. The male – the former homeowner – was located in the backyard retrieving a plant. He had never gone into the house.
- Police were called to Star Express for a report of a female who shoplifted ice cream from the store. She was located by patrols a short distance away and brought back to the store, where she paid for her desserts.
- A woman called police, stating she was at the Tim Hortons on Union Rd. near the 400, there were cars in the parking lot and it appeared there were employees inside, but she couldn’t get anyone to come to the drive-thru window. The employees were cleaning up for the night; and had closed up shop half an hour prior.
Tuesday 5/4/21: Total Complaints = 69
- Patrol responded to 4 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols responded to 1 Alarm Ringing call.
- Officers performed 3 Welfare Checks.
- Police were called to 7-Eleven on Seneca St. for a report of an unruly female customer, who was refusing to leave. She was waiting for a ride, was picked up by a friend and left without incident.
- Five town residents reported unknown suspect(s) obtained their personal information, and fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits in their names.
- A 50-year-old Buffalo man was arrested for drunk driving. An officer observed a vehicle on Seneca St. with a headlight out. The driver smelled of alcohol and was visibly impaired. He failed field sobriety tests, ultimately admitted to having five beers and two shots, and registered a .203% BAC on a preliminary breath test. He was charged with DWI and an equipment violation for the headlight.
- Patrols responded to an accident on the 400 northbound. Several geese entered the roadway, forcing cars to stop abruptly. One of these vehicles couldn’t stop in time and rear-ended another. No one was hurt.
- Police and EMS responded to an accident with injuries on Clinton St. at Harlem Rd. One vehicle turned left out of the Mobil gas station, failing to yield the right-of-way to traffic on Clinton and causing the collision. The driver of the striking vehicle was evaluated for pain in her left hand/wrist, and signed off.
- Officers responded to Union Rd. in front of Southgate Plaza for a report of road rage/two vehicles “racing.” Neither party wished to pursue the matter. They were both issued warnings regarding their driving habits.
- Police responded to a report of customer trouble at Santora’s Pizza. A customer was reportedly refusing to a wear a mask and screaming at employees. He was advised that he needed to leave the business, but would be welcomed back in the future only if he wears a mask. He agreed to comply.
- A suspicious male was reported to be loitering in front of Market in the Square, asking customers for money. He stated one person agreed to buy some food for him, so he was just waiting for his food. He was advised of town ordinances on soliciting. After receiving the food, he walked over to the bus stop.
- A Crofton Dr. resident reported unknown suspect(s) “egged” her house overnight.
- A Sunset Creek Dr. resident called police, stating his mother-in-law had come over, uninvited, and was not welcome in the house. She left prior to patrols’ arrival.
- Police and firefighters responded to a report of a basement fire at a Clinton St. address. The residents described hearing a “popping” and “fizzling” noise, before smelling and seeing smoke coming up from the basement. They all safely evacuated prior to first responders’ arrival. One of the residents located several items on fire on a work bench in the basement, extinguished the fire and moved the items outside. There was no structural damage to the house. The cause appears to have been a faulty/overheated battery charger.
- WSPD received a 911 call about an altercation in the parking lot of Home Depot. Two men got into a verbal confrontation over a prior work agreement. They were separated and sent on their ways.
Wednesday 5/5/21: Total Complaints = 84
- Patrol responded to 12 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrols responded to 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 4 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.
- Patrols were called to Tim Hortons on Union Rd. at Indian Church Rd. for customer trouble. A male customer had reportedly yelled and thrown a cup at an employee. He was advised he is no longer welcome at the restaurant.
- Police responded to a disturbance at the Staybridge Suites. A male had gotten into an altercation with another hotel guest, and was now refusing to leave. He was advised by patrol that he is no longer welcome at the hotel, and left.
- Officers responded to customer trouble at the Country Inn & Suites. Front desk staff reported a guest was threatening them, over billing. The issue with the bill will be worked out between the guest’s credit card company and the hotel’s corporate ownership.
- A male patient was reported to be screaming at staff and other patients inside an Orchard Park Rd. doctor’s office. He was escorted off the property by patrol, and advised he will need to find a new doctor, as he is no longer welcome at that medical office.
- An anonymous caller stated he had just witnessed an altercation between the driver of a car and an older male at the S&G Express Mart, and he was now following the car. Officers located the vehicle on Bellwood Ave. The driver stated he stopped at S&G because his intoxicated passenger was acting up, so he asked the passenger to get out. Officers were unable to locate the passenger at the gas station.
Thursday 5/6/21: Total Complaints = 70
- Patrols responded to 6 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol responded to 2 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers observed a suspicious vehicle parked outside Dunn Tire overnight. The driver stated he was just out driving around to calm down after a difficult night. He was sent on his way.
- A 22-year-old Buffalo man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Union Rd. An officer observed a pickup truck with an expired inspection sticker. The vehicle’s registration was expired, and the driver’s learner permit was suspended. An open, still-cold can of Budweiser was located in the cupholder, but the driver showed no signs of impairment. He was released on summonses for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, Uninspected Motor Vehicle, an “open container” violation and other infractions. The truck was impounded.
- Police responded to Tim Hortons on Union Rd. near the 400 for a report of customer trouble. A female inside the restaurant was arguing with employees about COVID restrictions. She left prior to patrols’ arrival.
- Police and EMS responded to the intersection of Seneca St. and Mill Rd. for an accident with injuries. One vehicle ran the red light, striking the other as it was making a left-hand turn. The driver of the striking vehicle was taken to the hospital for evaluation of a possible concussion.
- A 31-year-old Depew man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Clinton St. An officer observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. The driver’s license was suspended. He was released on summonses charging him with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, Unlicensed Operator and Uninspected Motor Vehicle.
- A 65-year-old West Seneca man was arrested, following a neighbor dispute. Police received multiple calls from Main St. residents about the subject making unreasonable noise. When officers arrived, he was screaming obscenities at his downstairs neighbor, and physically preventing the neighbor from leaving his apartment. The subject was also highly intoxicated. He refused to cooperate with patrol. He was taken into custody, charged with Harassment in the 2nd Degree and disorderly conduct, and sent to the hospital due to his intoxication and irrational behavior.
- A 23-year-old Boston woman was arrested, following what started as a suspicious vehicle call. A Sky Hi Dr. resident reported a car had been parked outside his house, with the driver asleep at the wheel, for over an hour. She was found to be in possession of several prescription pills and suspected fentanyl. She was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, and released on an appearance ticket.
- A Harlem Rd. resident called police, stating she wanted her male friend to leave, and he would not. The subject lost his car keys. With patrol’s assistance, he found them and went on his way.
Friday 5/7/21: Total Complaints = 76
- Patrols responded to 10 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Police responded to 2 Domestic Disturbances.
- Officers performed 5 Welfare Checks.
- Police and EMS responded to a one-vehicle accident with injuries on Center Rd. The driver attempted to make a U-turn, but instead drove onto a lawn, striking a parked car the porch of a house. She was evaluated at the scene for chest pain, and signed off. She was issued summonses for Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent and Moved From Lane Unsafely.
- Police and EMS responded to a three-vehicle chain-reaction accident with injuries on Union Rd. at Seneca Creek Rd. The first vehicle rear-ended the second, pushing it into the third. The driver of the striking vehicle was cited for Following Too Closely. The driver of the middle car was taken to the hospital with neck pain.
- Patrols responded to Lyndale Ct. for a neighbor dispute/harassment complaint. One of the parties involves keeps chickens, which has caused a rat infestation in the other party’s yard. The complainant also stated that the subject had threatened her and was posting on social media, encouraging people to come to the complainant’s house. The matter was referred to code enforcement.
- Officers were flagged down by someone who said there was a man drinking in a white van in the parking lot of Citizens Bank. When officers arrived, the subject and vehicle were not there.
- Employees of Subway at Southgate Plaza reported there was a male who’d locked himself in the men’s room, and wouldn’t leave. He appeared to be in medical distress and was sent to the hospital for evaluation.
- A Jasmine Ave. resident reported her neighbor’s boyfriend called her, and threatened to throw a brick through her front window.
- A St. Jude Ter. couple reported they had just witnessed an unknown male suspect get out of a red pickup truck, walk up their driveway and enter one of their unlocked vehicles. The suspect fled when the complainant ran outside to confront him. He stole a container of feminine hygiene products.
- Wegmans Asset Protection reported a male shoplifting suspect had just fled the store. He stole nearly $375 in steaks, which he abandoned when confronted by employees in the parking lot. He was last seen fleeing into the woods. Patrols searched the area, but were unable to locate him.
Saturday 5/8/21: Total Complaints = 86
- Patrols responded to 13 First Aid Assistance calls.
- Patrol responded to 3 Alarm Ringing calls.
- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.
- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.
- A complainant reported seeing three suspicious males possibly looking into vehicles in Birchwood Square. Responding officers encountered one male, who lives in the complex and was merely out for a walk.
- A 22-year-old Derby man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Indian Church Rd. An officer observed a vehicle with an expired registration. The driver’s license was suspended. He was issued summonses for Unregistered Motor Vehicle and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree.
- Patrols responded to a fight in the parking lot of Market in the Square. Security informed us that a female who’d been waiting in line to get into the store had become unruly, but had since left.
- Police were called to a Potters Rd. dentist’s office, for a report of youths playing hockey in the parking lot. The complainant stated the puck was hitting her car. The building owner asked the youths not to play in the business’ lot anymore.
- A Woodcrest Dr. resident called police, stating there was a male going door-to-door with a clipboard, claiming to be from Verizon. Officers searched the neighborhood, but the male was nowhere to be found.
