West Seneca Police Department Patrol Logs From March 21st Through March 27th.


**The following list is only a sample of all the complaints handled by patrols**


Sunday 3/21/21: Total Complaints = 101

- Patrols responded to 19 First Aid Assistance calls.


- Patrol responded to 4 Alarm Ringing calls.


- Officers performed 6 Welfare Checks.


- Police responded to a report of “unknown trouble” at a Giblin Dr. address. A female called, gave the address, and then abruptly hung up. Responding officers learned the resident of the address had taken the caller’s keys away from her, thinking she was intoxicated and not wanting her to drive. She was not intoxicated. Her keys were returned and she went on her way.


- A 35-year-old Lackawanna man was arrested, after he led police on a car chase through parts of West Seneca and Cheektowaga. An officer observed a vehicle speeding and turning onto Arcade St. from Harlem Rd. without signaling. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver turned off the headlights and sped off, first heading northbound into Cheektowaga and then doubling back south into West Seneca. It finally stopped on Fisher Rd. near Orchard Park Rd., where the driver was taken into custody. His driver’s license was revoked. He was charged with Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree, and a slew of traffic infractions, and released.


- A 24-year-old Buffalo woman was arrested for drunk driving, following a traffic stop on Harlem Rd. An officer observed a vehicle speeding, and driving with its high-beam headlights on. When the officer approached the vehicle, the driver was urinating on herself and smelled of alcohol. She refused to take any field sobriety tests or give a breath sample. She was charged with DWI, Speeding, Refusal to Take a Breath Test and Failure to Dim Lights, and released on summonses to a sober friend.


- A 20-year-old West Seneca man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Tampa Dr. An officer observed a vehicle pass through a stop sign without stopping. The driver’s license was suspended. He was released on tickets for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree and Failure to Stop at Stop Sign.

- Patrols were called to Planet Fitness for a report of a customer there refusing to wear a mask. Upon our arrival, the subject was leaving. He was advised his gym membership was revoked.


- Police and firefighters responded to a large brush fire behind a Seneca Creek Rd. address. The fire was extinguished; no injuries or property damage occurred.


- Several callers reported witnessing a male in a tie-dye shirt having a physical altercation on Orchard Park Rd. A male matching the description was located walking on Harlem Rd.; he denied being in any altercation. The female subject could not be located.


- Police received a report of a male and female in a green Toyota Camry at Harlem Road Park, doing drugs. Officers searched the park and surrounding neighborhoods, but no green Toyota Camry was in the area.


- A 30-year-old West Seneca man was arrested for drunk driving. Employees of Tim Hortons called, stating there was a motorist in the drive-thru who seemed intoxicated. He failed field sobriety tests and registered a .180% BAC on a preliminary breath test. He was charged with felony DWI (due to having a previous conviction) and released to a sober friend.


- A woman reported seeing a man enter a vacant apartment on Forrestal Ln. Patrols found the apartment secure, with no signs of forced entry. The complainant subsequently told officers she hadn’t actually seen the man go into the apartment, but rather between two buildings and into a wooded area.


Monday 3/22/21: Total Complaints = 90

- Patrol responded to 13 First Aid Assistance calls.


- Patrols responded to 2 Alarm Ringing calls.


- Police responded to 6 Domestic Disturbances.


- Officers performed 1 Welfare Check.


- A 33-year-old Cheektowaga man was arrested, after he led officers on a 20-mile high-speed chase. An officer observed the vehicle speeding on Harlem Rd. When the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver took off, running through a red light and getting onto the 400 northbound, then the 90 westbound, traveling at speeds of over 100 MPH. The vehicle exited the Thruway in Eden and finally stopped there. The driver refused to get out and had to be forcibly removed by officers. The driver’s license was suspended, he was visibly intoxicated, failed field sobriety tests and refused to give a breath sample. He was charged with Resisting Arrest, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, Reckless Driving and a slew of other traffic infractions. He was released to his girlfriend.


- A 26-year-old West Seneca man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Clinton St. His driver’s license was suspended. He was released on a summons for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree.

- Four town residents reported unknown suspect(s) obtained their personal information, and fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits in their names.


- Patrols were called to 7-Eleven on Seneca St. for customer trouble. The manager reported there was a female in the store acting “out of control.” She ultimately left the store, in care of her mother.


- Officers responded to an injury accident at Union Rd. and Clinton St., where two bicyclists were struck by a vehicle. The two juvenile bicyclists were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. A witness captured video of the accident, which showed the bicyclists attempted to cross Union Rd. against a “Do Not Walk” signal.


- Patrols assisted a Lackawanna woman, who accidentally locked her keys in her car, with her child also inside. Entry was made, and the child was okay.


- A woman reported her car was struck by dark sedan at Indian Church Rd. and Manhasset St. The driver of the striking vehicle then took off. The complainant was only able to obtain a partial plate. Officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the striking vehicle.


Tuesday 3/23/21: Total Complaints = 103

- Patrol responded to 16 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrols responded to 1 Alarm Ringing call.


- Police responded to 1 Domestic Disturbance.


- Officers performed 5 Welfare Checks.


- A 27-year-old Clarence man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Harlem Rd. An officer observed a motorcycle with its brake light out. The operator’s license was suspended, and he had a warrant for traffic charges out of the City of Buffalo. He was released on summonses for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, Inadequate Brake Light and Unlicensed Operator. A friend came to pick him and the bike up.


- A Kirkwood Dr. resident called 911, stating he woke up to find a stranger sleeping on his couch. The complainant said the subject seemed to be intoxicated, and was now on his front porch. The subject had mistakenly entered the wrong house; he was in good enough shape to walk home. The complainant opted not to press charges.


- A 44-year-old Evans man came to WSPD headquarters to turn himself in on a warrant for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree.


- The principal of West Elementary School reported unknown suspect(s) broke a swing on the playground, and left broken glass bottles on the playground and tennis court.


- A Delray Ave. resident reported he was receiving threatening phone calls from a woman he met a couple of years back on a dating app, and a male associate of hers, trying to extort $300 and threatening violence against him if he doesn’t pay.


- A man reported he was harassed by another motorist at Seneca Square Plaza. The complainant stated the subject pulled into the parking spot next to him, but was too close to his car. The complainant had trouble exiting his vehicle and accidentally tapped the subject’s vehicle with his door. The complainant stated the subject became irate. Upon returning to his vehicle after his appointment, the complainant found a vulgar slang term for the male reproductive organ, and a drawing of said organ, written on his vehicle with crayon. No permanent damage was done to the vehicle.


- Police received three calls over the course of just under four hours about groups of people outside a Dirkson Ave. address, yelling and looking like they were getting ready to fight. A verbal argument did occur between two of the parties, but it never escalated to anything physical. Some of the parties left and the rest agreed to quiet down.


- A Country Ln. resident reported she is receiving harassing text messages and phone calls from a man, who believes she is aiding police in a criminal investigation against him.


- A Buffalo woman reported her boyfriend’s vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of the Star Express on Clinton St. while she was inside the store. While patrol was still at the scene, the owner located the vehicle – unoccupied and undamaged – at Broadway and Bailey Ave. in the City of Buffalo.


Wednesday 3/24/21: Total Complaints = 104

- Patrol responded to 10 First Aid Assistance calls.


- Patrols responded to 2 Alarm Ringing calls.


- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.


- Officers performed 9 Welfare Checks.


- A red truck was reported to be driving across people’s front lawns on Blair Ln. Officers located the driver, and warned him about his driving and to stay off people’s lawns. There was no damage to any of the lawns. He was issued a traffic ticket.


- Police received a report of a wrong-way driver on the I-90 near the 400, driving slowly up the shoulder. Officers were unable to locate any such vehicle.


- A nine-year-old student was reported missing from Center Rd. Baptist School. The child had asked to use the bathroom, and not returned. A search of the school was unsuccessful. The child was subsequently located by police walking along the nearby railroad tracks. He said he was having a problem with another student, so he decided to leave school to go see the trains. His mother was notified, and the principal stated he would handle the problem with the other student.


- An Aurora Ave. resident reported she was the victim of identity theft. Unknown suspect(s) used her identity to apply for unemployment benefits and to open up a car insurance policy.


- Patrols responded to Dirkson Ave. for a neighbor dispute. The complainant stated his neighbor was blasting music, and refused to turn it down, when asked politely. Patrols spoke with the subject, who turned off the music and left for work.


- A Kone King employee called police, stating there was a suspicious male at the ice cream stand “talking crazy” and scaring her. The subject refused to speak with officers, but did walk away and return to his residence.


- WSPD received a 911 call reporting two males fighting outside a Mill Rd. address. Police spoke with both subjects, who stated they were horsing around and being animated, and others had misinterpreted what was occurring.


- Police and firefighters responded to a report of a chemical smell in the stairwell at the Staybridge Suites. The odor in question was that of nail polish remover.


Thursday 3/25/21: Total Complaints = 100

- Patrols responded to 12 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrol responded to 2 Alarm Ringing calls.


- Police responded to 2 Domestic Disturbances.


- Officers performed 7 Welfare Checks.

- A Lexington Green resident reported unknown suspect(s) entered two of his vehicles overnight. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

- An officer observed a vehicle driving erratically on Union Rd. with its hazard lights flashing. When the officer pulled the vehicle over, the driver refused to give any information about himself. He appeared to be confused and possibly suffering from a medical issue. He was taken to ECMC for evaluation.


- Wegmans loss prevention reported a shoplifting that had occurred on St. Patrick’s Day. They identified the suspect, who had previously been caught stealing from other Wegmans stores.


- A Milton Ave. resident reported a bird was stuck between the roof crest and wall of his house, and being attacked by other birds. Animal Control responded to assist the avian.


- An employee contacted police, stating a woman was making threatening and harassing phone calls to the West Seneca Developmental Center. The center’s phone number had been “spoofed” by unknown scammers, who then used the number to call the subject. The subject thought she was calling the scammers back. She was very apologetic for the misunderstanding.


- A woman reported there was a man in his 20s at Switzer Park, walking a dog off-leash and yelling profanities at other people in the park. The man left after police were called.


- Police responded to Seneca St. for a pedestrian struck by a dirt bike. The pedestrian stated he was crossing Seneca St. when the dirt bike operator appeared from off the road, entered the roadway and struck him. Both were taken to area hospital for their injuries. The dirt bike operator was issued seven tickets.


- Officers responded to a report of customer trouble at the Speedway at Orchard Park and Ridge Rds. The attendant reported a male customer had used profanity toward her and other customers, and left. He had refused to comply with the store’s mask policy.


Friday 3/26/21: Total Complaints = 115

- Patrols responded to 10 First Aid Assistance calls.


- Patrol responded to 4 Alarm Ringing calls.


- Police responded to 2 Domestic Disturbances.


- Officers performed 3 Welfare Checks.


- Patrols responded to a disturbance at the Loyal Order of Moose. The complainant stated she got into an argument with her friend, who is the bartender, and that the friend then went out in the parking lot and began striking the hood of her vehicle, causing minor damage. The bartender admitted to it, and said she would pay for the damage.


- A 27-year-old Lackawanna woman was arrested, following a traffic stop on Ridge Rd. An officer observed a vehicle with a brake lamp out, and pulled it over. The driver’s license was suspended. She was released on tickets for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree and No Stop Lamp.


- The Speedway at Ridge and Orchard Park Rds. was burglarized. The attendant reported that while he was busy stocking shelves and assisting other customers, he temporarily lost sight of a male and female who had come into the store together. The two purchased some items, and left. After they departed, the clerk realized a door to an employees-only area had been left open. He subsequently discovered more than $450 cash missing from a cash box.


- WSPD received 22 separate reports of damage caused by high winds. These included trees and power lines down, traffic signals out, a live power line that was hanging low over Seneca St. for several hours, a tree that fell on a power line in a backyard on Kirkwood Dr. and caught fire, a tree that fell on a vehicle at the library and caused minor damage, and a trampoline that was blown into a parked car.


- A caller reported there was a female in a sleeping bag along the side of the 400. Officers located the female in her backyard, reading a book.

- Police and firefighters responded to a car that drove into a building on Union Rd. The driver suffered a seizure, and as a result drove into a retaining wall. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation.


- A man called police, stating there were people using heroin in a car parked at Wendy’s. Patrols were unable to locate the vehicle or individuals.


- Employees of Sgroi Financial reported a man drove over a planter in front of the business, causing damage to the landscaping. Officers made contact with the driver by phone, and he agreed to pay for repairs.


- A Seneca St. woman reported she was threatened by a former fellow tenant, who returned to look for a package that had been delivered to the old address. The former tenant accused the complainant of stealing the package, and a male who was with the subject threatened to “kick down the door” and “put hands” on the complainant. Patrol reached the subjects by phone and advised them they are no longer welcome at the address.


- Police were called to a disturbance at the Country Inn & Suites. A hotel guest reported there were underage children running up and down the halls with vodka bottles. Officers located a fourth floor room wide open, with evidence of there having been a party there (half-consumed wine coolers, numerous sets of clothes on the floor, and a functioning disco ball). While officers were investigating, a young man showed up, attempting to retrieve property from the room. He stated his party guests had gotten a little out of control, that he’d gotten them to leave and would be checking out. He denied any of them were underage.


Saturday 3/27/21: Total Complaints = 96

- Patrols responded to 9 First Aid Assistance calls.

- Patrol responded to 1 Alarm Ringing call.

- Police responded to 3 Domestic Disturbances.


- Officers performed 4 Welfare Checks.


- A Clinton St. resident reported that a dark green Chevrolet Cruze had driven past his house multiple times, and the female driver kept yelling out the window at him. Police located a female in the area, who denied having driven by or yelled at the complainant.


- A Lenox Ave. resident reported three teen boys dressed in all black were jumping fences into yards on the street. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the yards.


- A 29-year-old Buffalo man was arrested, following a traffic stop on Seneca St. An officer observed a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. The driver’s license and the car’s registration were both suspended, for insurance not in effect. The driver was issued summonses for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree, Uninspected Motor Vehicle, Operating Without Insurance and Operating While Registration Suspended. The vehicle was towed.


- The driver of a car transporter truck reported unknown suspect(s) damaged three vehicles that were on his rig, while it was parked at the Kwik Fill on Clinton St. near the city line. The catalytic converter was stolen from one vehicle, the suspects were unsuccessful in removing the catalytic converter from a second car, and a third car was scratched and dented.


- A 45-year-old West Seneca woman was arrested, following what started as a welfare check. A landlord requested help from police in contacting his tenants, whom he hadn’t been able to get in touch with in over two months. While doing a walk-through of the house with the landlord, officers located a marijuana plant growing in the basement. The subject stated the plant was hers, and she was growing it for her husband. She was released on an appearance ticket charging her with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana in the 2nd Degree.


- Four female suspects attempted to shoplift over $1500 in merchandise from Big Lots. They abandoned their carts full of product when confronted by employees in the parking lot.


- A Ludwig Ave. resident reported three teenaged boys stole her 14-year-old daughter’s leather jacket, and fled into Cazenovia Park. Police searched the park and surrounding areas, but were unable to locate the youths.

- A Brookside Dr. couple reported two female suspects were banging on their doors, trying to get into their house. The females were able to open the attached garage, but did not make entry to the house. Officers searched the area, but could not locate the females.


- A 38-year-old West Seneca man was arrested, after he was foiled in a shoplifting attempt at Wegmans. When confronted by store employees, he dropped the merchandise and ran out of the store, smashing a display of glasses on his way out. He was charged with Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree and released on an appearance ticket.
