Two men arrested for multiple charges after theft occurred on the Thruway.

Per NYSP TROOP A:

Cheektowaga, NY – On July 20, 2021, at approximately 10:15 a.m., State Police from SP Buffalo responded to a report of criminal activity occurring at a Thruway storage lot on I-90 and State Route 33. Upon the Trooper’s arrival, one male fled the area on foot while another male remained in a vehicle at the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined that Terrance P. Dunbar II, 33, of West Seneca, NY, removed a catalytic converter from a truck belonging to Union Concrete and Construction Corp and damaged a second truck, before fleeing. Sam C. Bierwith, 33, of Buffalo, NY, accompanied Dunbar and was still seated in the vehicle he drove to the scene. Further investigation revealed Bierwith was unlicensed. While a vehicle inventory was being conducted, a catalytic converter from the damaged pick-up truck was discovered.

Bierwith was taken into custody, transported and processed at SP Buffalo, where he was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th degree; a Class A Misdemeanor. He was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Cheektowaga Court on August 3, 2021 at 8:30 a.m.

Dunbar voluntarily surrendered at SP Buffalo a week later. He was charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree, Criminal Mischief 2nd degree, and Auto Stripping 2nd degree; all Felonies. Dunbar was released with appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Cheektowaga Court on August 6, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.
