March 4, 2018- SP Latham
In the early morning hours of March 4th 2018 two troopers who were on scene at a single vehicle property damage incident on Interstate- 90 were struck from behind and suffered serious injury. Troopers were dispatched and responded to a report of a single vehicle incident in the median eastbound at mile post market 7.7 on Interstate- 90 in the town of East Greenbush. At the scene, the responding troopers had employed flares along with emergency lighting to allow a tow truck which was also on scene to remove the vehicle from that location. At approximately 5:15 A.M. a separate vehicle travelling eastbound at that location struck both troopers. One trooper landed approximately 100 feet away in the median area and the other trooper was thrown and pinned under the tow truck. Both were transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where they are in serious but stable condition. I-90 eastbound is currently closed between exits 7 and 9 to allow for investigation at the scene of the incident with an unknown duration of closure.
