Three arrests made from investigation on Internet Crimes Against Children.

SP Clarence, Bureau of Criminal Investigation with assistance from Troop ‘A’ Computer Crimes Unit, conducted Internet Crimes Against Children investigations in the Town of Amherst and Village of Depew. Investigation determined three suspects which led to the following arrests in the month of October 2022.


 Samuel P. Lipsius, 25 of Amherst, was charged with Promoting Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, ‘D’ Felony and Possession of Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, ‘E’ Felony.


John B. Merow, 74 of Amherst, was charged with Possession of Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, ‘E’ Felony.


Gene T. Smith, 65 of Depew, was charged with Possession of Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child, ‘E’ Felony.
