TEEN TIED TO THREE BURGLARIES IN CLARENCE NEIGHBORHOOD

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Detective arrested a 13-year-old male in connection with break-ins at residences on Fox Trace Street, Clearview Drive, and Ledge Lane in Clarence. On July 9, Deputies were first called to the Clearview address to investigate a burglary. The homeowner detailed the items that were stolen which included an iPhone, a camera, tools, a GPS watch, and jewelry while Crime Scene Investigation Unit members collected evidence. Then Deputies responded to a Fox Trace residence where they observed several indications that someone tried to gain access to the dwelling. The subject damaged screens, a sliding door, and a canvass deck covering but did not gain access to the house. Following those two incidents, Deputies went to Ledge Drive to investigate reports of a third burglary. During this break-in, the subject reportedly went through a purse and then viewed multiple pornographic websites on a resident’s laptop computer. One of the victims gave a description of a suspicious teenage male, and the Sheriff’s Office was able to locate the individual. While speaking with Detectives, the 13-year-old did admit to burglarizing two houses and attempting to gain entry into the third. The subject is charged a felony count of burglary and a felony count of attempted burglary. Also, the juvenile is charged with misdemeanor counts of petit larceny, criminal trespassing, and two counts criminal mischief. The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent and was issued appearance tickets for Family Court.
