The Erie County Sheriff’s Office responded to 97 calls the week of this report.



*Town of Alden:

10/30/24 Wire Down

Broadway at Two Rod Road

Deputies checked on a report of a wire down over the road. Deputies located a live power line and needed to close the road. NYSEG responded to the scene to repair the wire, and the road was reopened.


10/31/24 Motorist Broke Down

Wende Road

Deputies assisted a motorist with their disabled vehicle on Wende Road. Deputies provided traffic control until the vehicle was removed.


10/31/24 Accident with Injury

Genesee Street

Deputies were called to a single vehicle rollover accident with injuries. Deputies reported that one passenger was transported to ECMC for medical evaluation and the vehicle needed to be towed from the scene. Deputies completed an accident report.


11/01/24 Suspicious person in vehicle

W Main Street

Deputies were asked to check on a person in a vehicle at the Alden Town Park. Deputies reported the person was just taking a nap and everything appeared in order.

10/28/24 Bomb Threat

Main Street

Deputies and the Erie County Sheriff Bomb Squad were called to investigate a bomb threat. Explosive Detection K9s cleared the location and no explosives were located. The Sheriff’s Office reports that this incident remains under investigation.


10/31/24 Noxious Odor

Exchange Street

Deputies were called to check on the smell of natural gas on Exchange Street. Deputies and Fire cleared the house and reported everything appeared in order.

Town of Marilla


10/31/24 Fire

Williston Road

Deputies and Marilla Fire responded to a brush fire. Deputies found that a pile of leaves was the origin and Marilla Fire extinguished the fire.


10/31/24 Neighborhood Patrol

Town of Marilla

Deputies continue targeted patrols to combat the rise in larcenies from vehicles. The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind people to lock their vehicles and to remove valuables from them when left unattended.


10/31/24 Road Obstruction

Valley Lane

Deputies were called to check on a tree down blocking the road. Deputies located a large dead tree that fell across the road. Deputies removed the tree and reopened the roadway.
