State Police Investigating a Pedestrian Involved Fatal Accident on the I-90 In Cheektowaga.



Cheektowaga, NY – On July 12, 2019, at approximately 3:09 a.m., State Police were dispatched to investigate a serious injury accident which involved a vehicle striking a pedestrian on I-90 in the town of Cheektowaga. Investigation at the scene revealed that David M. Donovan, 55, of Orchard Park, NY, was operating his 2011 GMC truck westbound in the center lane of I-90, in the area of mile marker 422.9, when he observed a pedestrian pushing a shopping cart full of cans and bottles across the center lane.  Donovan was unable to stop in time and struck the pedestrian, identified as Robert G. Greene, 74, of Buffalo, NY.    Greene was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Erie County Medical Examiner.  Donovan was not injured and showed no signs of impairment.  The accident was reconstructed by the New York State Police Troop A Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU).  State Police were assisted by AMR Ambulance and Davron’s Towing.
