Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of 41-year-old Calvin Young of Buffalo following an early evening drug raid at his East North Street residence. The raid was conducted after a two-month long investigation which was initiated by an anonymous tip.
Around 5:15 P.M. the Erie County Swat Team, Narcotics Unit and members of the Buffalo Police Department executed a search warrant, signed by Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi, for the subject’s residence. Upon entering the dwelling, the subject and a 13-year-old family member attempted to flee the residence but were quickly apprehended. The 13-year-old male was later turned over to child protective services.
During the raid, Detectives and Deputies discovered 1.5 kilos of cocaine, approximately one ounce of heroin, thirteen ounces of marijuana, two handguns, one of which was stolen from the Watkins Glenn area, and approximately $70,000.00 U.S. Dollars.
Calvin Young is a New York State convicted felon and is currently serving federal probation for federal drug charges.
Young is charged with an A-1 felony for criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony possession with intent to sell, felony criminal possession of marijuana, two felony counts of criminal possession of a loaded firearm, and a felony count of criminal possession of a stolen firearm. In addition to the felonies, the defendant is charged with a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child and three counts of use of drug paraphernalia.
Young is remanded to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.
