Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two drivers following two separate crash investigations.
August 28, 8:56 a.m., Town of Newstead – Deputies responded to reports of a vehicle in a ditch along Main Road. Upon arrival, Deputies observed a vehicle in the south ditch. The operator showed signs of intoxication and admitted to Deputies he had been consuming alcohol. 33-year-old Jeffery James of Akron failed multiple standard field sobriety tests. Subsequently, he was arrested and charged with DWI, operating a vehicle with a BAC of .08% or higher, and failure to keep right. James was released to a sober third party.
August 29, 11:25 p.m., Town of Grand Island – Deputies responded to a multi-vehicle crash with injuries along Baseline Road. Deputies arrived at 1181 Baseline Rd. to learn a vehicle struck two parked vehicles. 23-year-old Jacqueline Kehoe of Grand Island failed multiple standard field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI – BAC .18 or higher, DWI, and two vehicle and traffic law violations. She was released to a sober third party.
