On December 4, 2020 at 9:31 A.M., Troopers out of SP Boston responded to a three-vehicle collision on State Route 16 in the town of Sardinia by between Hand Road and Allen Road. Further investigation revealed that a 2020 Jeep was traveling south bound on State Route 16 slowing/stopping in traffic to make a left turn. A 2020 Peterbilt traveling south bound on State Route 16 struck the rear end of the Jeep. The Jeep went into the northbound lane and was struck by a 2005 Chevy head on. The multiple parties involved were taken to Erie County Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. The operator of the Jeep, Nelson H. Drosendahl, 86 of Blasdell, NY was pronounced deceased at the scene.
NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in this investigation.
