REPORT OF SUSPICIOUS MAN IN VEHICLE IN ALDEN.
Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of 22-year-old Elijah Rogers following the investigation into a suspicious incident in the Town of Alden on April 27.
Deputies were responding to a call along Broadway about a suspicious male inside the complainant’s vehicle that was parked in the resident’s driveway. En route to this call, Sheriff’s Dispatchers received a second call about an unattended pickup truck parked in an eastbound lane of Broadway. The pickup was unlocked, the glove compartment was open and keys in the ignition. A second Deputy secured the truck.
The original complainant described the male, his direction of travel, and Deputies began searching the area. Approximately 3-miles east of the initial incident, a Deputy observed a male fitting the description near a dump truck that was involved in a third complaint peering into a store. The subject was taken into custody without incident and was transported to a substation.
Sheriff Detectives interviewed Rogers, and he was later arrested and charged with a felony count of criminal possession of a stolen vehicle, a misdemeanor count of unauthorized use of a vehicle, and a violation for trespassing.
The defendant was released with appearance tickets, and the incidents remain under investigation.
