Pursuit Through Multiple Jurisdictions Ends in NYS Parolee’s DWI Arrest.
Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of Michael Penvose and Laura Park following a pursuit that involved numerous law enforcement agencies early Wednesday morning.
The incident started when Deputy McClelland attempted to make a traffic stop after observing vehicle and traffic violations at Route 438 and Richardson Road on the Seneca Nation of Indians territory just after Midnight. Deputy McClelland turned on the patrol vehicle’s emergency lights, but the operator failed to stop. The pursuit traversed through Cattaraugus County then back into Erie County along Southwestern Boulevard.
The operator led Sheriff’s Deputies through multiple municipalities and ended after Evan Police deployed stop sticks, and the vehicle came to a rest at Southwestern Boulevard and Pleasant in the Town of Hamburg.
Sheriff Deputies’ investigation discovered a felony amount of meth in Penvose’s possession and arrested him for criminal possession methamphetamine. Deputies further discovered the defendant’s license has eleven active suspensions and he was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. Deputies added resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, reckless driving, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a vehicle, and criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
It was also discovered Penvose is on New York State Parole for drug charges and he was subsequently arrested on a parole violation.
Drug Recognition Expert, Deputy Biegasiewicz performed an evaluation and subsequently charged Penvose, 37 of Gowanda, with DWI-drugs.
Deputies also arrested Park, 29 of Angola, and charged her with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Both defendants are held at the Erie County Holding Center pending their arraignment.
