PREVIOUSLY CONVICTED DRIVER ARRESTED FOR 2ND DWI AFTER CRASH.

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports 43-year-old Jerrel Pugh was arrested for felony DWI following a crash investigation in Grand Island. Deputies Lundberg and Coniglio responded to a crash scene along Grand Island Boulevard at approximately 10:00 P.M. on July 18. Pugh, of Buffalo, attempted to flee the scene on foot, but Deputy Coniglio and a Grand Island Police Officer apprehended him. After detecting signs of impairment, Deputies conducted standard field sobriety tests and a chemical breath test. Pugh failed multiple field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol content level above the legal limit. The subject is charged with a felony count of DWI – previous conviction and a felony count of operating a vehicle with a BAC more than .08% with a previous conviction. Pugh is also charged with a misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle without a mandated interlock device, a violation for leaving the scene of a crash and unlawful possession of marijuana. The defendant was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.
