Ohio Man Wanted For Kidnapping A Mother And Give Children, Arrested On The Thruway In Cheektowaga.
On April 21, 2019 at approximately 6:50 p.m., State Police received information to be on the lookout for a white Chrysler minivan with Ohio plates, traveling eastbound on I-90, operated by a white male. The male was reported to be involved in a kidnapping of five children and their mother from the Cleveland, Ohio area. State Police observed a vehicle matching the description and plate number and made a vehicle and traffic stop on I-90 at the Cleveland Drive exit, in the town of Cheektowaga. The male driver, William M. Angel, 27, of Cleveland, OH, was detained and transported to SP Buffalo. Five children, ranging from six months to seven years old, along with their mother, who were in the minivan, were also transported to SP Buffalo. Further investigation revealed Angel was a wanted by Cleveland Police Department for six counts of Kidnapping, two counts of Felony Assault, and five counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Angel was processed as a Fugitive from Justice (out of state crime) and transported to the Erie County Holding Center to await extradition to Ohio. There were no provisions for the victims, including the infants, in the vehicle. Several members from SP Buffalo purchased diapers, food, clothing and toys for the children. EMS personnel responded to SP Buffalo for a medical assessment of the mother due to injuries she sustained in the initial kidnapping in Ohio and assisted in bottle feeding and caring for the children while the mother was being interviewed. The victims remained at SP Buffalo until a relative traveled from Cleveland, Ohio to pick them up.
