NYSP are investigating a double fatal crash involving a wrong way driver on I-90 in Lancaster.
On Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 1:03 a.m., State Police received a report of a wrong way driver traveling westbound in the eastbound lane on I-90, in the area of mile marker 408, in the town of Lancaster, Erie County.
While Troopers were attempting to located the vehicle, a head on crash was discovered at mile marker 413.7 eastbound, at 1:09 a.m.
A preliminary investigation determined a 2011 Ford Escape, operated by Tatiana G. Walker, 32, of Buffalo, NY, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane and struck a 2012 Toyota Corolla, operated by Julia V. Hunt, 23, of Tempe, AZ, head on.
Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office and were removed to Erie County Medical Center pending autopsies.
The accident was reconstructed by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) and is still under investigation.
