NYS Police release names from a serious personal injury accident involving a State Trooper on I-190.

Trooper Randi L. Murphy-Motley, assigned to SP Buffalo, was sitting in her patrol car behind a Budget rental truck with the emergency lights activated.  The driver of the truck was previously transported to Erie County Medical Center. 

While waiting for a tow truck to respond, a 2020 Chevy Tahoe, failed to move over and struck Trooper Murphey-Motley’s car.  The driver of the Tahoe, 25-year-old Devere D. Thomas, and passenger Karmella M. Hutcherson, 19, both of Buffalo, NY, were transported to ECMC for minor injuries. 

Trooper Murphy-Motley, an 18-year veteran of the State Police, was transported for serious injuries and has since been released. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
