On August 1st, 2021, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Ricardo Sanchez, 26, of Buffalo, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.
The Troopers responded to Route 60 for a report of a vehicle that had fled Jamestown Police units and was last observed driving north on Route 60 leaving Jamestown. The Troopers observed the suspect vehicle commit multiple traffic violaiotns at which point a traffic stop was attempted on County Route 380. The vehicle failed to comply and continued driving on county roads through Ellicott, Gerry, Ellery and Stockton before coming to a stop after striking a deer on County Route 54. The driver, Sanchez, displayed multiple signs of drug impairment and was subsequently placed under arrest. A search of Sanchez’s vehicle revealed 11 Suboxone strips. Sanchez was transported to SP Fredonia where he was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert and determined to be under the influence of a Central Nervous System Stimulant, a narcotic, and cannabis. After a blood sample was secured from Sanchez at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, Sanchez was processed at SP Fredonia and released with traffic tickets and appearance tickets. Sanchez is scheduled to appear in the town of Stockton Court on a later date.
