Main-Transit Firefighters Respond to Motor Vehicle Accident in Amherst.
Main-Transit Fire Department of Amherst, NY responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident with entrapment at 295 Essjay Rd at 3:39 PM on February 5, 2019. Firefighters arrived on location in under a minute and found two trapped occupants of a vehicle on the side resting against a sign for the business. Firefighters immediately began administering first aid and extricated the two occupants of the vehicle. The driver of that vehicle involved was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Twenty five Main-Transit Firefighters responded with a heavy rescue, two engines, and two light rescues. Fire Chief Daniel Hooper commanded the response. The accident is still under investigation through the Amherst Police Department. Two occupants of a second vehicle involved were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Several other occupants were evaluated on scene and signed releases.
Main-Transit Fire Department was assisted by the Amherst Police, Town of Amherst Building inspectors, the Central Fire Alarm Office and Twin City Ambulance.
