We have recently received a few reports of bicycles being stolen from garages that were either left open, or had unlocked man doors that the thief opened to access the garage. These larcenies occurred during overnight hours in the Church Street/Lake Avenue area of the Village of Lancaster. Here are a few tips to avoid this happening to you:
- Make sure that your garage door is closed and locked - Close and lock any outside man doors or windows to the garage - Consider covering or frosting any windows in the garage, so a potential thief cannot see what is inside - Don't leave your garage remote opener in plain view in your car - Always lock the entry door between the garage and your house If you observe suspicious persons or activity, please contact the Lancaster Police immediately at 683-2800, or dial 911 for an emergency.
