At 12:21 pm a Jefferson Parish County Sheriff Deputy attempted a pedestrian stop in the city of Harvey on Manhattan Blvd and Ascot St.. The suspect(s) opened fire on the Deputy.The Deputy was shot multiple times. The Deputy was transported to the Medical Center but was pronounced dead.

The name of the Deputy has not been released pending notification of relatives. Please do not release the name as Relatives need notified first!

A Sheriff’s Deputy was shot and killed in the city of Harvey on Wednesday.

The scene is at the intersection of Manhattan Boulevard and Ascot Street, near a Dunkin’ Donuts. The wounded Deputy was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead. The gunfire occurred during a pedestrian stop when the Deputy was shot multiple times, the police chief said.
