The Erie County Sheriff’s Office responded to 461 calls the week of this report.



Town: Boston


10/27/24 Fire

Boston State Road

Deputies and Boston Fire responded to a report of smoke in the laundry room at the Boston Valley Apartments. Deputies reported the smoke was coming from a dryer and there was no damage to the building.


10/28/24 Motorist Broke Down

Route 219

Deputies assisted a motorist that broke down on Route 219. Deputies stood by for traffic control until South Town Tires was able to jump start the vehicle.


10/31/24 DWI & Narcotics

Route 219

Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle rollover on Route 219. Deputies reported minor injuries, and the occupants were evaluated by EMS. Deputies noticed a powdery substance in the vehicle and Samuel Czehowski admitted it to being cocaine. Deputies charged Samuel with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Samuel was also arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Samuel registered a .13 on a chemical breath test and was released on an appearance ticket pending arraignment.

10/27/24 DWI

Heath Road

Deputies arrested Aaron Abernethy of Colden for driving while intoxicated. Aaron refused to submit to a breath chemical test and he was released on an appearance ticket pending his arraignment.

10/30/24 Burn Investigation

Middle Road

The Sheriff Office’s Fire Investigation Unit investigated a burn incident that caused 3rd degree burns from a toaster oven. Victim is currently being treated at ECMC.

10/28/24 Suspicious incident

Middle Road

Deputies checked on a report of a vehicle door that was open all night. Deputies were able to contact the registered owner who stated everything was ok and there was no need for police assistance.


11/01/24 Road Obstruction

Springville Boston Road

Deputies were called to check on a strange object in the middle of the road. Deputies located a deer skeleton and removed it from the road. Town Highway was advised to come and pick up the skeleton

10/27/24 Accident Property Damage

Waverly Street

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle road rage accident. Deputies reported no injuries, and one vehicle was towed from the scene. Deputies completed an accident report and both drivers were issued summons for traffic violations.


10/28/24 Motorist Broke Down

SB Route 219

Deputies assisted a broken-down motorist and provided traffic control. The driver was able to get the vehicle back up and running.


10/29/24 Shoplifting

S Cascade Drive

Deputies responded to Walmart for a report of a shoplifter that took items valued over $570. Deputies gathered video footage and information to complete a police report. The identities of the subjects were verified by store employees and The Sheriff’s Office reported that this case in under investigation.


10/31/24 Larceny

Mill Street

Deputies responded to a report of a bicycle that was taken and complaints believe it was left at Crosby’s. Deputies checked the area and reported no bikes in the area. Deputies spoke to the subject’s grandfather who stated he would facilitate returning the bike. The bike was returned, and the complainant did not want to press charges.


10/31/24 Youth Activity

N Buffalo Street

Deputies checked on a report of a large group of youths in the roadway. Deputies spoke to the group who stated they were just out horseplaying and looking for a phone they lost. Nothing criminal reported and everything appears in order.

10/30/24 Neighborhood Patrol

Town of Holland

Deputies keep up increased patrols to combat the rise in vehicle larcenies. The Erie County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone to keep their vehicles locked and not to leave valuables inside the vehicle overnight.

10/29/24 Trespass

Chaffee Curriers Road

Deputies checked the area around Chaffee Curriers Road for hunters hunting on private property. Deputies were unable to locate the hunters on the complainant’s 300 acre lot. Deputies advised the complainant to call back if the hunters were spotted. Deputies checked the area for any parked vehicles with negative results.


10/31/24 Bad Check

Olean Road

Deputies completed a police report for a bounced check that was issued to SS Diesel & Auto. The financial institution processed a certificate of protest and Deputies left a message for the insurer of the check. This incident is still under investigation
