Grand Island - Missing Swimmer Identified.

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announced today that the missing swimmer had been identified as 37-year-old Nathan Farkas of North Tonawanda.

Nathan went missing Tuesday afternoon while swimming in the east branch of the Niagara River near the south Grand Island bridges.

The Sheriff’s Office as with Erie County Blotter wishes to express its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Farkas.

Sheriff Howard also wants to thank all the agencies that provided personnel and equipment for the two-day search.
