Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a 28-year-old Courtney McDonell, formerly of Grand Island, following a grand jury indictment for felony counts of predatory sexual assault against a child and sexual conduct against a child.
Deputies were called in early January 2018 by Child Protective Services to investigate alleged sexual abuse against a 4-year-old victim. Deputies collected evidence of the abuse by her biological father and live-in girlfriend and turned the case over to Detectives.
On October 19, Jacob Beach, 24 of Grand Island, and Courtney McDonell were indicted by a grand jury and on October 25 Detectives arrested McDonell. Currently, defendant McDonell is held at the Erie County Holding Center without bail.
Beach was indicted on felony counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, course of sexual conduct against a child and two counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child. Defendant Beach failed to appear at his arraignment and is now a fugitive.
The Erie County District Attorney’s Office has authorized a nationwide extradition order for Beach’s return.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office believes Beach has fled the region and is asking that anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to call 716.858.2903 and refer to CL 18-001449.
The U.S. Marshals Service is assisting in the search for Jacob Beach.
