Family Court Warrant Unit Nets 7 in Annual Sweep.
Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces the successful completion of the 14th Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail and Family Court Warrant Sweep that was conducted on Wednesday, October 19. The Erie County Sheriff’s Family Court Warrant Enforcement Unit, the Civil Enforcement Division, and patrol deputies participated in the sweep and searched the City of Buffalo and Erie County for individuals wanted on active Domestic Violence and Family Court warrants.
The Sheriff’s office again participated in the Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail along with approximately 250 other law enforcement agencies across the country. The sweep is a day-long event, in which agencies attempt to serve outstanding family-violence warrants. Last year, law enforcement agencies from 36 different states participated. The Sheriff’s office also used this opportunity to focus their attention on Family Court warrants as an important tool to combat crime and concentrate on persons who owe child support.
Deputies from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office arrested and took seven subjects with a combined eight warrants into custody.
Arrested in the sweep were:
36-year-old Joseph Harrison from Amherst on a Family Court warrant.
47-year-old Heather Smith from Buffalo on a Family Court warrant.
35-year-old Emmanuel Carter from Buffalo on a Family Court warrant.
38-year-old Lamont Campbell from Buffalo on two Family Court warrants.
33-year-old Mario Gruttadaura from Buffalo on a Family Court warrant.
38-year-old Shawn Martinek from Buffalo on a Family Court warrant.
30-year-old Cody Diehl from East Aurora on an Erie County Sheriff’s Office warrant for Menacing, Harassment, and Criminal Mischief charges.
Deputies are confident that intelligence gathered during the sweep will lead to several more arrests in the following days and weeks.
