Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputies arrested a former tenant of a Town of Alden apartment around 8 p.m. Monday after the subject was found living in the dwelling and stealing electricity from an adjacent building.
Deputies Day and Klemp responded to a call from the landlord that a former tenant, evicted on May 23, was discovered to be living in his former apartment and using an extension cord to utilize electricity from an adjacent building. When questioned by Deputies, Darren Frayne admitted he was not supposed to be in the apartment. Deputies proceeded to search the apartment for additional squatters and during that search, the Deputies discovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view.
Frayne, 35 years-olds, was arrested and charged with one count of felony burglary, three counts of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal mischief, and a misdemeanor charge of illegal use of utility services.
The defendant is at the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment on June 22.
