ERIE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE GRADUATES 44 IN LATEST CORRECTIONS CLASS

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announces the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Academy graduated 44 Deputies and Corrections Officers today from its latest basic corrections academy.

The recruits attend a 13-week long academy where they receive defensive tactics, jail management training as well as weapons and Oleoresin Capsicum (Pepper Spray) training.

After the recruits graduate from the Basic Corrections Academy, the Deputies and Corrections Officers will be assigned to the Erie County Holding Center or the Correctional Facility. The newly sworn officers will continue their training alongside experienced officers within the detention facilities and will receive their final duty upon completion of field training.

Included in this class are Deputies from the Wyoming and Genesee county Sheriff’s offices.

This corrections academy is one of the largest classes in recent history.
