Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a 54-year-old Wellsville man for aggravated DWI on August 11.
Deputies responded to Route 16 near the Holland/Wales border for traffic complaints about a specific vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle, and after observing vehicle and traffic violations, a traffic stop was performed on the northbound section of Route 400.
While speaking with the operator, a Deputy observed signs of intoxication, the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle’s cabin, and an alcohol container next to the front passenger seat.
Dennis Long failed multiple standard field sobriety tests, and he was arrested for DWI. The defendant submitted to a chemical test, which indicated his BAC level was more than three times the legal limit. The investigation also discovered Long did not have a valid driver’s license.
The subject is charged with a felony count of aggravated unlicensed operation, misdemeanor counts of aggravated DWI – BAC more than .18%, DWI, and multiple traffic infractions including drinking alcohol in a vehicle on the highway.
The subject was transported to the Erie County Medical Center for evaluation.
