Erie Co. Sheriff's Office Warn of Another Phone Scam Alert.

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard is warning Erie County residents of a phone scam which has resurfaced, and the Sheriff urges people to ignore these calls.
The Sheriff’s Office received two complaints yesterday about an individual representing themselves as Sergeant Mason from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. The scammer is telling individuals they have a warrant for their arrest for missing jury duty. The scammer instructs people to purchase a Green Dot card to pay a fine and void the warrant. All of which is false.
This agency does not call individuals requesting payment for fines or outstanding warrants, and it does not request people to purchase Green Dot cards or any other form of prepaid cards.
Sheriff Howard urges people to ignore these scam attempts and continues to suggest people “Just Hang Up.”
