Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the Crash Investigation Unit responded to a serious crash and a fatal crash this weekend.
December 13, 9:15 p.m. (approximately), Seneca Nation of Indians Territory – the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by SNI Marshals about a two-vehicle collision on Route 438. The driver of one of the vehicles sustained upper and lower body injuries and was transported to Erie County Medical Center via ambulance, where he remains. The operator of the second vehicle was transported Lake Shore Hospital with non-life –threatening injuries.
CIU called in Air-1 to take overhead photos of the crash scene.
December 14, 2:30 p.m., Town of Concord – Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at Glenwood and Ross roads. When they arrived, Deputies observed the driver of one of the vehicles unresponsive and the driver in the second vehicle alert.
Personnel from Concord Fire and Mercy EMS responded to the scene, and Mercy EMS pronounced 50-year-old John Grudzien of West Falls dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was transported via ambulance to Bertrand-Chaffee Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident was turned over the crash unit for further investigation.
The Sheriff’s Crash Unit is investigating both crashes, and no charges have been filed for either incident at the time of the release.
