Amherst Fire Control received a call from the resident reporting smoke coming from a bedroom and stating that everyone was out of the house except for a dog and cat. The Fire Department arrived on location within two minutes and confirmed smoke coming from a 2-1/2 store house. Crews advanced a hose line into the structure to a first floor bedroom and quickly brought the fire under control. The cause remains under investigation. While the dog was accounted for the cat remains missing. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents, 4 adults and 4 children.
