ECSO and Peaceprints of WNY Recognized for New Preventative Program in Jails.

Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard announced Tuesday, January 21, the Jail Management Division and Peace prints of WNY received the New York State Sheriff’s Association Institute’s Innovative Program Award for the development and implementation of Project Blue.

This collaborative effort between the Sheriff’s Office and Peaceprints of WNY aims to reduce recidivism by filling an essential service gap with comprehensive reentry services for inmates at the Erie County Holding Center and Correctional Facility. 

Project Blue serves individuals at medium to high risk of re-incarceration and provides twelve months of post-release services including, substance and mental health treatment, job training, and continuing education opportunities.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office has won the innovative jail program award four of the past five years for jail and inmate programs that provide treatment and education for incarcerated individuals that aim to reduce recidivism.
