East Aurora man arrested for felony aggravated DWI in Yorkshire.

On June 2, 2019, SP Machias Troopers arrested Joseph R. Hawley, 45, of East Aurora, NY for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree, Driving While Intoxicated: Previous Conviction Within Past 10 Years, and Use of a Vehicle Without an Interlock Device.

During a traffic stop on West Yorkshire Road in the town of Yorkshire, Hawley was exhibiting obvious signs of intoxication. Troopers determined he had been operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Hawley was then arrested and transported to SP Machias, where a chemical breath test revealed him to have a 0.19% BAC.

Hawley was arraigned in Yorkshire Town Court, where he was remanded to the Cattaraugus County Court in lieu of $2,500 bail or $5,000 bond. He is due to reappear in that court this month.
