Deputies Help Save A Childs Life by Performing CPR.

Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports Deputies responded to a Holland residence on April 24 for a two-year-old child not breathing.

When Deputies Naegely and Flowers and Sergeant Krypel arrived, CPR was being performed. However, the child’s extremities turned blue, and she was unresponsive.

After the mother explained the child was eating, Deputy Naegely performed the Heimlich maneuver, and following multiple attempts, her airway was cleared and she began breathing.

EMS personnel arrived and administered oxygen, and the color in the child’s hands and feet returned.

The child was transported to Oishei Children’s Hospital via Mercy Flight.
