DEPUTIES FIND NARCOTICS DURING 10 SEPARATE TRAFFIC STOPS.


Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports Deputies made several traffic stops over the past four days that resulted in drug-related arrests.

March 25, 7:53 P.M., Town of Collins – Deputies Hyde and Christian stopped a vehicle along Cemetery Hill Road for equipment violations. During the Deputies’ investigation, Zachariah Fasso, 26 of Gowanda, volunteered there was crack cocaine in the vehicle. The Deputies located a quantity of crack and a pipe and charged Fasso and the passenger, Emily Sternisha – 20 of Gowanda, with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both defendants were transported to the Erie County Holding Center where Fasso posted $2000.00 bond, and Sternisha was released on her own recognizance following an arraignment hearing.

March 25, 8:06 P.M., City of Buffalo – Jay Honeycutt, 31 of Blasdell, was stopped by Deputy Bauer on Michigan Avenue after failing to stop at a red light. The Deputy’s investigation discovered Honeycutt and his passenger, Alexandra Hess – 30 of Malone, NY, possessed crack cocaine. Both subjects are charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and released on appearance tickets.

March 25, 9:30 P.M., Town Sardinia – John Harrigan, 27 of Delavan, was stopped on Middle Road by Deputy Thurston for a vehicle and traffic violation. The Deputy’s investigation discovered a bag of marijuana, a glass pipe containing marijuana, and a straw containing white powder residue. Harrigan is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, and he was released on appearance tickets.

March 25, 10:42 P.M., Town of Brant – After observing equipment violations on an Ohio vehicle, Deputy Francis initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Erie and Cain roads. While investigating the driver, the Deputy detected the odor of marijuana and Christian Brown, 23 of Warrensville Heights, Ohio, stated she possessed some in her purse. A search of the subject’s purse discovered a marijuana cigarette, crushed Percocet and a residue laced straw. The subject is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and vehicle and traffic violations then released on appearance tickets.

March 26, 4:53 P.M., City of Buffalo – Deputies Bauer and Francis stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Bailey and William streets for a traffic violation. Their investigation discovered Larry Kelly’s driving license is suspended and their subsequent search found the subject, 38 of Orchard Park, in possession of crack cocaine and a pipe. Kelly is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

March 26, 10:18 P.M., Town of Concord – A traffic stop along Route 219 was initiated by Deputy Zamorek for vehicle and traffic violations. The Deputy discovered a quantity of heroin in the vehicle and arrested the driver, Ashley Oakes – 22 of Little Valley, and the passenger, Rochelle Dunkleman – 28 of Little Valley, and charged each of them with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and a count of criminal use of drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were later released on appearance tickets. Dunkleman is currently awaiting a court date for a drug related arrest on March 17, in the Town of Concord

March 26, 10:26 P.M., Town of Elma – Deputy Miller stopped a vehicle on Route 400 for vehicle and traffic violations. When the Deputy approached the vehicle he detected the strong odor of marijuana. During the Deputy’s investigation Elias Davis, a passenger in the vehicle, voluntarily turned over two bags of marijuana totaling 56 grams. Davis, 19 of Buffalo, is charged with criminal possession of marijuana and was released on an appearance ticket.

March 26, 11:45 P.M., Town of Brant – Deputy Christian observed a vehicle in a parking lot facing traffic with the high beams on. When the Deputy went to investigate the vehicle and advise the operator, the Deputy discovered Donald McCurdy, 30 of Bethpage, Tennessee, but residing at a Buffalo address, had an outstanding warrant from the City of Buffalo. The wanted subject was taken into custody and a search of the individual discovered a quantity of methamphetamine. McCurdy is charged with two misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and is remanded to the Erie County Holding Center.

March 27, 12:50 A.M., Town of Boston – After observing vehicle and traffic violations Deputy Coniglio initiated a traffic stop on Route 219. Additional Deputies arrived and during their investigation of the driver and the passenger the Deputies observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. The driver, Jacob Walker – 36 of Sardinia, and the passenger, Luis Lanzo – 23 of Buffalo, were asked to exit the vehicle and the subsequent search discovered several needles and an amount of cocaine. Walker is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic instrument, and a vehicle and traffic violation. Lanzo is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia. Both defendants were taken to the Erie County Holding Center and later released.

March 27, 10:58 P.M., Town of Cheektowaga – Jade Wynecoop, 18 of Amherst, was arrested for cocaine possession following a traffic stop on Transit Road. Wynecoop was found to possess a small amount of cocaine and marijuana and is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. She was later released on an appearance ticket.
