Depew Man Arrested For Impersonation of a New York State Trooper.

On September 20, 2019 the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) arrested Jason Lanning, 45 of Depew, NY for Criminal Impersonation and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.

On September 10, 2019, the BCI received a complaint that a man identifying himself as an off-duty New York State Trooper went to a residence in Elma, NY and asked to speak with a female resident. Investigation of the complaint revealed that Lanning had falsely claimed to be a current member of the State Police.

Lanning was previously employed as a State Trooper until 2010.

Based on the information provided, an arrest warrant was obtained and Lanning was taken into custody. Lanning was found to be in possession of items that belonged to the New York State Police during the execution of the arrest warrant.
