On Tuesday January 10th at 1:15am Depew Firefighters were alerted for a report of a fire in a recycling yard on Broadway in the Village. The first two Fire Chiefs responding confirmed a working fire with the fire plume able to be observed from all parts of the Village.
Upon arrival Assistant Chief Jamie Nusall confirmed a 30ft pile of recycling was more then 50% burning and was about 1200 feet back in the complex. Depew crews made quick work of the incident by establishing a water supply on Broadway and laid supply line to the fire area. Both Engines 3 & 4 equipped with foam cells were used to extinguish the fire. The fire was extinguished in 40 minutes. Thank you to the employees who assisted in the extinguishment by using their heavy equipment to move the pile of recycling.
Thank you to the Bellevue Fire Department with their assistance especially in the cold temperatures. Also, thank you to the Hy View Fire Company for standing by and covering calls in the Village.
