Christmas Day Tootsie Roll Bandit Foiled.

The West Seneca Police Department announces the arrest of Michael W. Ohnmeiss (05/25/1965) of Lindsay Place N. Tonawanda, NY.  Ohnmeiss is charged with 1 count of Petit Larceny (Class A Misdemeanor).

On 12/25/2018 at approximately 10:22 am, West Seneca Police responded to Speedway, located at 697 Orchard Park Rd for a reported robbery.  The victim reported that the suspect, later identified as Ohnmeiss, entered the store and placed a single “Tootsie Roll” on the counter to purchase.  When the clerk opened the register, Ohnmeiss allegedly reached into the register, grabbed approximately $300 in cash and fled the scene in a vehicle. The description of the vehicle and the suspect was broadcast to other area jurisdictions.  Approximately 30 minutes later Buffalo PD notified WSPD that they had located the vehicle and were involved in a vehicle pursuit, that was re-entering West Seneca. When patrols arrived in the area, Buffalo PD had the suspect in custody after he crashed into a row of hedges on Potters Rd.  Buffalo PD took custody of Ohnmeiss, as they also had outstanding charges for him. A warrant was requested in West Seneca Court for Ohnmeiss, and he will be due back in West Seneca Court at a later date.
