Cheektowaga man arrested for Felony DWI and resisting arrest following a traffic stop in Buffalo.

On May 4, 2021, at approximately 10:50 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on State Route 33 in the city of Buffalo for a vehicle and traffic violation. After interviewing the driver, David L. Wright, 40, of Cheektowaga, NY, he was found to be intoxicated and had a suspended license.

Wright attempted to flee the scene on foot when Troopers advised he was under arrest. He was quickly taken into custody and was transported to SP Buffalo where he refused to give a breath sample. Additionally, Wright has a previous DWI conviction within the last 10 years and as a result, he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st degree; both Class E Felonies, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree; both Class A Misdemeanors.

Wright was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the City of Buffalo Court on May 28, 2021 at 9:30 a.m.
