On December 17, 2018 at approximately 3:00 am Troopers responded to a home on Maple Rd, Akron where the homeowners reportedly were awoken by the sounds of someone entering their home. The victims encountered an unknown woman in their kitchen, who was later identified as Lorie Darnley, 45 of Buffalo. The homeowner was able to prevent the suspect from leaving and the Troopers arrived shortly thereafter. Darnley appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and could not provide a reason for entering the home. She was arrested, processed and released with a return court date in Newstead.
