Buffalo - Niagara River Claims 2.

With the Accident that claimed the life of a Buffalo Police Officer still fresh in our minds, The Niagara River Again has taken 2 more lives as people are heavily warned that the Niagara River is NOT a place to be in.

A man said to be a furniture maker (Victim #1) and collecting driftwood to master his next creation was at the foot of West Ferry St. when witnesses report he had fallen over the safety rail and had screamed for help. Another younger male (Victim #2) was responding to the crys for help and had jump into the rushing waters of the Niagara hoping to save the gentlemans life.

Calls start pouring into the 9-1-1 call and dispatch center on Elm st. that two men were in the Niagara River and had not surfaced. Buffalo Police and Buffalo Firefighters were immediately notified as with the US Coast Guard and Erie Co. Sheriffs Office Marine Unit.

Sadly the bodies of two men, Yet Identified had been pulled from the waters. Buffalo Police Capt, Jeff Ronaldo says this incident will be hard on the rescuers that had just the night prior gathered to honor fallen officer Craig Lehner with June 24th Family Fishing Day.

Buffalo Police Continue to Investigate this Incident and we will update as we can.
