Buffalo Firefighters, Buffalo Police, and Amherst Police Dept's Commercial Vehicle Accident Investigation Unit along with Rusiniak's Heavy Rescue Team were called to Walden ave and Wasmuth Ave for a Semi Truck that had struck the bridge. Due to the nature of the placards that were on the outside of the trailer, the incident was upgraded to a Hazmat Incident. We were informed by crews on the scene that the trailer was loaded with pallets of an alcohol-based liquid. The placard on the side was marked that the trailer was carrying #1268 of which is labeled as "Petroleum distillates and/or Petroleum products." however, no leak of these chemicals was noted, and Buffalo Firefighters stood at the ready just in case of any need for further action.
