Brighton Fire responds to separate "car vs. building" motor vehicle accidents within days
On Monday 7/3/17 just after 8:00am, Brighton Fire was alerted to a fire alarm activation with a vehicle reported to have struck the building on Niagara Falls Blvd. Upon the arrival of Asst. Chief Andy Hallnan, it was confirmed a vehicle did strike the building causing actual structural damage to it. The Town building dept. was notified and responded to the scene. It was determined that the front corner of the building was compromised extensively. Brighton firefighters placed emergency shoring with cribbing and temporary braces until a contractor could install permanent bracing. All units returned to service at 09:24 hrs On Thursday 7/6/17 just before 2:30pm, firefighters were once again alerted for a report of a vehicle into a building; this time on Delaware Ave. Under the direction of Asst. Chief Dabney, crews were able to determine that this building suffered no structural damage. Crews assisted the Town of Tonawanda Paramedics and Twin City Ambulance as needed and were quickly back in service in about 20 minutes.
