KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) -
A KCK police officer has died after being shot Tuesday afternoon.
Sources confirm the officer died while reporting on an armed disturbance call.
Police Chief Terry Zeigler said the shooting happened at 22nd Street and Haskell Avenue.
The shooting happened following an armed disturbance call at about 1:33 p.m. An individual said three or four parties were shooting in his direction.
Officers arrived on the scene at 1:37 p.m. The officer was shot at 1:58 p.m., according to police. He attempted to make contact with another suspect in the area.
Police on scene say the officer responded alone to a shots fired call.
Officer Tom Tomasic said on the scene multiple suspects are in custody.
Police are searching the area of 18th and Parallel Parkway. The FBI is also on the scene investigating.
This comes just after two months following the death of KCK police detective Brad Lancaster. Lancaster was shot and killed May 9 near the Kansas Speedway.
