Amherst Police Officers honored for their actions in apprehending a kidnapping and robbery suspect.

On December 1, 2016 two officers from the Amherst Police Department were honored for their actions in apprehending a kidnapping and robbery suspect. Awards were presented at an awards luncheon sponsored by ASIS International.

Detective Edward Guzdek and Police Officer Edgar Walker were recognized for affecting the arrest of a 22 year old male suspect who kidnapped and was forcibly ordering two elderly victims to withdraw money from an ATM. Guzdek and Walker disrupted the in-progress crime and after brief foot chase the suspect was taken into custody. Because of the quick actions taken by these officers, the victims were unharmed and a dangerous suspect was taken off the streets.
